Build 10056 was for MS employees so your getting the update prompts for another employee update... which you can't get since your not on that ring.
Yes, but at certain times when checking for updates, I'll be registered on the 'Canary' or 'OSG' ring(s), then it probably detects that I'm not an MS employee then it sets me back on the WIF ring. Go figure. Oh well, come what may.

I think i'm going to be doing clean installs from now on like I did last time.
So much less time to install since I have everything backed up and on Onedrive. I can blow away everything and be back up and running in no time. Loved that I can just run the setup file in the iso.
10056 is still going good. Only issues are every once in a while the lock screen picture password won't draw completely as in parts of the picture are black. Can't wait for dark theme file manager as some leaked tablet builds have shown.
Moving tiles on the start menu is problematic and sometimes don't snap correctly where I want to move them. They still justify to the left and you can't put them anywhere you want and that stupid left all apps column is still there. They need to hurry up and make this a hidden option. Totally sucks on my Surface.
Can't see body of emails in the new Mail app.
But Eminent, then you have to reinstall all the 3d party programs....right???
That takes a lot of time also.

I would rather do a clean install than preserve installed programs on a buggy OS. What good those 3rd party programs will do to you if you can't make the OS work?
The best way is to create an image with installed programs or use the OneGet command.

I agree.. we'll see what happens when the next build is dropped.

Hi Dave44 I got this one over a week ago and have it running as my main OS and also have it running with Mint 17.1 as host and 10056 as a guest. No real problems so far.

Posting this in Build 10056. Did a clean install and used Powershell/OneGet to install 15 third party programs. It took 40 minutes!

What if MS blocks users of these leaked builds form getting any more builds? We are getting them to test so we should test what MS wants us too. IMHO. I know, I used one as well and it messed me up.

They need to start blocking pirates first before leakers. :)

I did a clean install of 10056 on my laptop. After using it for a few hours I formatted the SSD and clean installed 10049 for my wife to try. Now I have 10056 in a VM on my Windows 8.1.1 drive and 10049 installed on a separate drive in my desktop. I'm not sure how long I'll keep my VM. I'm not a big fan of using a VM.
