Microsoft surprise 4-5 May
-
Spartan is a work in progress and you really can't judge it this early on. Heck, MS really shouldn't have sent it out this soon, IMO,

I rest my case with the start menu.
I'm at peace with the Classic Shell.
And I have no third party Start Menu apps on my computers. Each and every one of them lacks something, so if I'm not going to be satisfied with any of them, why not leave well enough (the Windows Start Menu) alone. :)

Well, it's still a tech preview. Don't expect everything to work as it should.
I have to keep reminding myself that it's still a preview and it's going to have a few bugs here and there.

Yes, but I shouldn't have to install a third-party start menu.
And really, would it be that hard to add more customization options?
Everyone agrees with you there. No to 3rd party. But 3rd party knows what we want better. Plus, they are not really that hard to install anyway. Some people even do it the hardcore way... Regedit. :)

+1000 And given how early in the development cycle Win10 is I have to say I'm impressed. :)

I only used ClassicShell for Win8.1 because I never liked the implementation of the start menu. As for the new start menu.. it's one of the reasons I like Win10. I like going stock with this OS.

I accepted that fact already. It's unusable the way it is right now. It's an interactive demo. I only open it up to see the progress. Chrome is still my default browser. Thank goodness Spartan can at least download Chrome.

Well, I have been eying Start10 from Stardock.
If the Start Menu doesn't get any better than I may buy it.

More likely they will announce they are Buying Linux. As in all of it. Every distro. Guys with black shirts white ties and striped suits will simultaneously make offers "that can't be refused." The tip off the rumor is true will be if Linus Torvalds is reported missing within 24 hours of that date.
Doesn't matter it can still be ported GPL, so we would still have open source
I don't think Windows 10 10049 is anywhere near ready for general release yet. I hope its a finished Spartan they're talking about.
I had problem getting both 10041 & 10049 on my dell system. It is not ready for prime time.
All,
Free surface pro computer but you have to pay $10.00 a month to use it :)

I maybe confused. I use mostly 3rd party software. I use very little Microsoft stuff besides the Operating system. Here is the stuff that I use rarely--Wordpad, Notepad, and Internet Explorer. I do use Microsoft Work 7.0 database a lot but it is checkbook program I made. I am also using sticky notes more.

Internet explorer is still there, just look for it, in what is called the app menu now. I.E. is not pinned to taskbar anymore unless you do it yourself.
