But as you can see from the table in post 1, Tablets run "Windows 10 for Desktop Editions"

I have a 1GB tablet running Windows 10 Home, so I'm also interested in what will happen.
Looks like your 1GB Ram tablet is " SOL".

I also have the 1GB Tablet, which works great at the moment and will be sad if its not suported

But with 10 evolving and being the last named OS, this is bound to happen as time goes on, 10 is not going to support everything currently forever

    I hope you're not correct.

Here's the thing though - the tablet came with Windows 8.1 which is supported until January 2023.

When I upgraded it (to 10240) the official support end date was October 2025. But are Microsoft now saying it will go out of support sooner because I can't update it? That's misleading advertising if so.

Are they saying I need to rollback to 8.1 to stay in support?

I hope I am wrong too.
But there is no way to add more RAM to a tablet, right ?
So, what can one do ?

If I reduce the free space on drive C to 10 GB, can Anniversary Update be prevented?
Mathew, if for some reason you do not want the Anv. Update, you may be able to prevent the download by setting your internet connection to "metered", and uncheck "give me updates for other products" under advanced settings in Update & Security. Also you might want to consider deferring upgrades. Reducing your space available to 10GB just to avoid it would probably cause you some performance issues. defer upgrades in windows 10 - Bing

Create an image backup before applying the Anniversary Update. Then if problems, restore the backup.

After some research, I have found that some older processors that are not compatible with the 64 bit W10 will run 32 bit. One example is the Athlon 64 X2 on the socket 939, at least the faster ones. I have one of mine at the museum where I am a volunteer running W7 64 bit, and Microsoft says that the processor is incompatible. I could change to 32 bit W7 and upgrade to W10, it is a 4800+ with 4 gig of ram, and the motherboard is a comparatively recent Asrock, no dodgy capacitors.

setting your internet connection to "metered"
Do you mean 'Allow VPN connections over Metered networks'? It is on by default and does not affect updates.

It is unchecked by default. Does that mean Anniversary Update will not be installed by default?

No. It means updates for other Microsoft products, like Office. Windows updates are not affected by whether the box is checked or not.

Is it impossible for Home Edition to block a specific update?
Does the following work on Windows 10 Home?
