Kaspersky declines to support Windows Insider builds of Windows 10

While not exactly new information, we’ve received a tip from a user of Kaspersky. When inquiring about Kaspersky not working with Insider builds of Windows 10, the company responded that their policy of not supporting them isn’t new.

“Kaspersky has never supported beta builds or preview versions of any operating system and it’s very unlikely that this will change, as we cannot guarantee the stability of our product on such builds. As a result, the chances of our product supporting such builds in the future is to be honest extremely low.
We absolutely respect your decision to continue using the Insider preview build and uninstall Kaspersky instead but in such a case there is not unfortunately anything further that we can do.”

aspersky points out that because Insider builds aren’t stable that they won’t support them. A similar sentiment was said by Microsoft themselves in a forum post. On that forum they state that “You likely won’t see a fully supported version of Kaspersky until Redstone reaches general availability, which is in the second half of this year. That’s if you don’t like it, its best you stick with a fully supported stable build such as the Windows 10 November Update.”

I am not surprised as Norton also has had problems with the insider builds and no guarantee it will work correctly until a release.

In other words, don't expect a refund.

I'm not surprised , coding for what is basically pre-release beta builds that can change at a moments notice would add to their overheads and there's no guarantee any changes they made would not have to be re-made in a weeks time or even removed.

    Hi there

As others have said -- insider builds are essentially beta software so why go to the expense of supporting something that might never be needed after a few days / weeks -- seems an obvious commercial decision.

My own view on a lot of this AV software is that it really isn't needed any more on W10 if you let Windows defender run.

You would be far better off looking at ways to protect your MOBILE PHONES as these are the new targets for hackers plus be aware of obvious Internet Scams and Frauds which no AV software can protect you against -- common sense is the only weapon against those.

Also don't give too much away on those social media sites --what's the point of having what you think is the most secure computer on the planet only to have all manner of personal details freely given away on things like twitter / instagram etc etc.

    Cheers

Why should software developers support test builds. They're for development purposes only and not really meant for general daily use. It surprises me when I see people using them as such.

MS Defender scores far lower than most of the well-known AV products in tests. I wouldn't rely on Defender.... just saying

I am also annoyed, that Bitdefender Free Edition is not supporting Windows 10.
