I didn't think so, because when i installed it, it was awfully buggy...certainly did not seem like an improved version....
Just curious, but how did you know?

UWP apps always have a gray (color of your setting) icon/bg:

, this one hasnt, it is not the UWP version, UWP apps also have just "Windows 10" under the list of OS, this one doesn't.

Thanks...that clears it up...I'll wait for the new version and give it another "go" then...
That is probably why softpedia "pulled" the article....because the release of the new version has been delayed...
I'll watch for it in the windows store...

yep...i just knew there was no way that unstable and buggy vlc app i downloaded last week could possibly be the new and very improved version...

no wonder Softpedia pulled the article...well, we will have to watch the windows store for the arrival of this new version...Thanks for the preview link...

VLC never will be a good player, it's one of the slowest, most CPU hungry, GUI unfriendly and buggiest out there, always was, always will be. An UWP app can just adding worse, not better. Use MPC-HC.

MPC-HC. on a relatively small, hi-dpi touch screen without mouse/keyboard?
    Much fun with that...
But I agree with you regarding VLC.
