Announcing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14342 for PC Insider
-
Ah I am successfully on 14342, but for work purposes I always prefer using the proper released ISOs. Have a bunch of test surfaces, other tablets, desktop, notebooks that I have been playing with and would prefer the real ISOs compared to ones extracted from the ESD files. Perhaps I am just a bit too OCD, haha
I ain't touching that one with a ten-foot pole; however, I will put my neck on the line and say that an ISO created properly with the ESD file is the same as an ISO that Microsoft provides.
OK, now I've said it! If I'm wrong, would one or two or all of youse guys who know better weigh in on the matter. Please. I'd really like to know if I'm wrong.
Oh, and it wouldn't hurt to know I'm right. :)

took for 4 times to get upgraded to this buid. failed 3 times. turns out the upgrade process didnt like the fact I had hacked together theme files.
once I reverted the theme files back. the upgrade completed on the 4th time.
Do you know which theme caused the problem, Killer? And why it caused the update problem? What it was about the theme that caused the problem?

I guess this would be a good reason to do the upgrade to 14342 directly from the ISO. It should allow option 1 rather than the clean install. How did you determine it was a linked theme that was stalling the online update? In myi case I think it was some program it could not deal with but I don't know how to debug this. Information would be very useful and save time for (hopefully) tomorrows release.
TIA

Already on! and the 14342 is what you will find now as the build available from the download page linked in the Download ISO guide! Just as I thought they wouldn't replace the 332 until this newer build was out. When the next build is out then you will find the 352 available in ISO form there. That will likely be the 14362 build? since you are now seeing each new build in a 143xx "10" higher number progression which will likely be the case until the Redstone 1 arrives in July.

Downloading now. So glad MS has put some fast servers online. I have a small paradox here. My internet speed is nominally 10 Mbps, Speed test.net reports about 8 - 9 Mbps, I very rarely manage downloads more than 5 or 6 Mbps and when downloading updates it goes 12 Mbps or a bit less. That of course dampens internet browsing somewhat and have to wait couple of minutes to download an average page but average update finishes in ~5 minutes, small price to pay.

MS has the budget for the fast as possible types knowing that the loads to be placed on them would be tremendous! The download servers that is would have been increased as well for 10 considering this will be the largest endeavor in pushing a new version out trying to reach that one billion upgrade mark!

For the second time MS surprised me with timing of updates. They came out 10 min after I left PC and went to bed .

Of course, Andre. There's a little spy in your computer that tells Microsoft when you've gone to bed. :)
Just like that little spy in mine that told Microsoft I wasn't expecting the new Build until Friday! So, when I'm seriously heads down in Excel, I get the notice that it's dropped!

Me, I just got a feeling that there will be an MS dropping last night. So when I turned on my Insider PC last night, I went straight to "Update" and there it was. Then I checked if there was a post about it and I was the first one to comment about it within minutes after it was posted... :)
