totally empathise with you on this. Must be a really annoying issue. Windows 10 tends to bite us in all sorts of different ways. Certainly not happy with its unpredictability. I just wonder if it's always happening a week after an update - is there something in task scheduler running after a week that is screwing things up. Can't pretend to suggest what or why but it could be worth scrutinising. Also does a restore point from when it was functional (say a couple of days ago, so post cumulative update but pre start menu going wrong) fix it?

maybe each update restores some kind of default but because of some bugged task introduced somewhere it will always go wrong. I do appreciate looking at all the tasks and pinning it down is a bit like searching for a needle in a haystack
