Hi,
This is my first post on the support website so apologies if I leave something out or this is posted in the wrong place.
This update was automatically installed on my Windows 10 Pro computer a few days ago and is causing my PC to reboot continually. I purchased Windows 10 from the MS store back in last August and it has been running fine so far. Here is my hardware,
Motherboard: ASUS|SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 R
CPU: AMD|8-CORE FX-8150 3.6G 8M R
Memory: Seagate Desktop 4 TB Solid State Hybrid Drive SATA 6 GB with NCQ 64 MB Cache 3.5-Inch (ST4000DX001)
Graphics: ASUS GeForce GTX 970
Power: CORSAIR|TX650 V2 650W R
Ram: 8Gx4|GSKILL F3-1600C9Q-32GSR R
I've been looking around and haven't found a solution. It starts up, shows the windows logo, I can choose between windows 10 or 7, and when I choose 10 it shows a windows logo again and reboots. Windows 7 also doesn't work, but that has been the case since I upgraded (pretty sure windows 7 from when I inherited this cpu wasn't legitimate, which is why I purchased 10 from the MS store when I got it). I have tried starting in safe mode, and repairing windows 10 from my installation USB. I don't have any restore points saved, but all my data is backed up via a network drive. Do I have to reinstall everything from square one or is there a solution to stop my computer from continually rebooting?
Thanks,
Update went well ----- or so I thought.
Have lost access to the Start menu, can't use Edge, calculator, and many other Apps ........ ( Maps, etc)
Not sure what I should do, as other things are still working okay .....
Do you want Windows 7 ? If no backup your data and go to fresh install Windows 10. You could download ISO from here Tech Bench and make a bootable DVD or USB.
It seems this update fixed my broken apps (because of attempts repair non working start menu)
Start menu works again as well, but that's normal after an update. Normally it's only for a week or so. Let's see how long the fun will last.
Made a fresh install the 10th and was on 10586.218_Dual_Boot, May 12th updates was the source of many bugs and unstable issues; KB3156421 was installed twice and KB890630 failed to install. Got this last one manually. See screenshot.
