    Big deal.

Windows Updates are supposed to be downloaded and installed automatically.
If they are not, there is something wrong with the users' computers.

It is much appreciative that Cluster Head has been taking the troubles to post all those notifications.
My comments are not directed at him.

Success!! I have a Start Menu AND Start Screen thanks mostly to u guys

Plus a little input from Msft.
I had installed the update KB3152599, and it did nothing. I ran Troubleshooter and it found and fixed corrupt tiles. So I thought the update probably didn't install due to the corrupt tiles. So I ran the update once again, and it still seemed to do nothing. It says no restart needed, but I restarted anyway. Nope.

Then I decided to experiment. I have no Start Screen - right. Well from the Start Menu I chose an item and did right click 'Pin to Start'. After I did that beside the Start Menu was a small black screen with my newly created tile on it. Hmmm.
I tried the start button and Windows Logo Button. No Start Screen.

I went to Start Menu and pinned another item to start, and again I saw just to the right of the menu, the small black screen with two tiles.

I went through ALL display and personalization settings. I created a new theme from the pic I had on desktop. Still no change, but I restarted and Hooray! I had the normal start screen which now comes up when I click Start button or Windows logo button - just like it should.

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions.
I got to thinking yesterday afternoon about how many hours I had spend troubleshooting this issue. And I knew it would probably be resolved if I did a clean install (which is what I did on the laptop and it was fine afterwards. But I refused to do that on my desktop because of the time it would take to reinstall all my programs, configurations, etc.

Well, in this case I had tunnel vision. Because I know I spent more time fixing this problem than I would have spent doing a clean install. I tend to have a little too much perseverance when I'm working on a problem.

Oh well. All is good. Now I can get back to work on normal things that need done. It's nice to be closing the book on this one.
