lehnerus2000,
See most Dell all-in-one computers are designed to run both windows and Ubuntu. Dell Sells two Ubuntu pre-installed computers. Some of those other distros work better in Vmware. I did find one puppy Linux that works, it is called warry. The issue with puppy, it doesn't have an software update feature, you can't update browsers very well and runs as root. If it wasn't for those Xubuntu and Lubuntu. I would be using Ubuntu with xfce desktop installed and using windows 7. I think windows 7 USB to DVD formater may have fixed the usb drive. It got damage some how by arch and couldn't be formated the normal way. I am brave maybe a little to brave I done a lot of testing over the last year. I even gave up on Linux a time or two and just had windows 7 installed. I also crashed Linux distros at least twice. One other distro (Can't remember which one) got hacked immediately. It started do some strange stuff. I am just glad for Mini-partion wizard cd and Macrium reflect backup.
Bunnyj,
Since you like Windows 10, I think you would like Linux Mint KDE
These are not complete instructions, so if anyone else is reading this, do not do this unless you know how to partition your disk.
For me, I found it better to install Linux totally on extended partition for non-gpt partition disk
It makes a lot easier to reinstall windows 7 and 10 and create other primary partitions if needed.
One note, Windows 10 requires grub to be removed during new build releases.
Using the windows 10 installation, I think it shift-f10 key or windows/fn-f10 key.
Type this at command prompt
Bootrec /fixboot
Bootrec /fixmbr
Install the new windows 10 build into a primary partition
Do an extra couple of reboots after windows 7 installs
Using a Grub boot disk,
Boot operating system
Choose the first Linux distro Like msdos, hd05 or something like that ignore boot errors.
Terminal prompt
Type is sudo grub-install /dev/sda
or sudo grub-install /dev/hda
Depending on the linux distro and your hard drive it just varies
then run sudo update-grub
Some of this may require secure boot disabled or grub secure boot cd.
Do we speak about the licensing mess that a real good decision could solve, but aborted, or we do Linux Troubleshooting ? If the later I can participate , I'm running multiple Linux Distros dual/triple/quad-booting with other Linux Distros and Windows all together, over 5 years now.
I think windows 10 and 8.1 looks a lot like KDE and Unity ubuntu.
Xfce and Xubuntu. look like windows 98se
Who copied who?
