Thanks Kari, and apologizing for "few pages". The link on the foxit site is to version 7.3.4
Your version is very like Ninite version. Thanks for the info about OneGet will look into it.
Well, I'm not apologizing. :) As I said before, it takes a village. And, as we all know, Kari's the "headman" of the village. :)

If we hadn't been discussing and trying every method we could think of, Kari may not have noticed the whole problem. As it is, we now have another tool for our "toolbox".

I might misunderstand something: do you guys want to get Foxit working? As my first screenshot shows, version 7.2.8.1125 works perfectly, at least when installed using PowerShell OneGet.
Well, duh! I read the post but missed the link! Went off and found the link and posted it again. Oh, well, nothing like being redundant.

I admit "pushing" OneGet whenever I have an opportunity. Over 3,800 applications available (compare to Ninite's less than 100) to be installed without any unwanted additional software, without any "Click this" or "Click Next" or "Do you also want to install this or that software". Install all your software with one command, silently in background. All software downloaded directly from provider, either latest stable version or any other available older version.

This with a native, built-in Windows 10 tool.

    Mini tutorial:
    1. In an elevated PowerShell, allow running scripts: Set-Executionpolicy Unrestricted
    2. Install Chocolatey package provider: Get-PackageProvider Chocolatey
    3. Install software, for instance Install-Package vlc, FoxitReader, TeamViewer, Malwarebytes, Steam, Skype, Office365HomePremium -Force

Steps 1 & 2 need to be done only once. Later on you can just open elevated PS and directly install software with Install-Package.

That's it. The -Force switch at the end automates the installation of the applications listed in Install-Package cmdlet.

And that's in the UI, not the web page, the UI!

Thanks for the OneGet reference, Kari. Never heard of it before. Sounds like a great way to set up new systems with the basics.

A neat little script file sounds like a good idea.

    Cheers.

I realize that Foxit is crashing for some, just addressing the installation path.

This may be Jeff's Crystal Ball Source:

@lolz72829178 @gabeaul We have a new candidate that has the PCI bug fixed, but it will not be ready to promote today. Still evaluating it.

Nope.. I have a different source.

Page after page about Foxit, got interested. Installed it using PowerShell OneGet, no issues. Runs without any problems.

Notice the version. PS OneGet always downloads the latest stable installer offered by the software provider (see yellow highlight in below screenshot). OneGet installed version 7.2.8.1125 for me (green highlight):Kari
Tried Powershell, it worked without problems copying your instructions, but:

Hmm... for me it downloaded this, the same version I was having problems with, 7.3.4.311, not 7.2.8.1124 as in your screenshot.

It has installed no problems, but still crashes a few seconds after opening a PDF, and cannot send the crash report like 2/4 other installations I noted in a previous post #696

These are all on my 64-bit Laptop -HP/Compaq PresarioCQ57 AMD E-300 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics 1.30 GHz, 4 GB RAM 3.6 usable running build 14316 x64 Windows 10Pro.

    .............................................................................

On the Pentium 4 x86 machine (specs), the same OneGet process also installs 7.3.4.311, not 7.2.8.1125, as shown in the Powershell console there. On this installation no Foxit software had ever been installed since the OS was.

That Foxit Reader also crashes on opening a PDF document, and reports successful crash report, long before the crash data has finished being collected, and shows an error in obtaining the registry Data.

Scratching head here. Thinking version numbers differences...

Next step to install an older version - on the Compaq x64 and the Pentium4 x86 under build 14316, the older Foxit Reader Ver 7.0.3.916 worked without any issues.

I got Foxit crash on 14316, also. Just for giggles, I changed the .pdf open default to Edge and they seem to open fine! Can't do much except read and print, but it opened!

EDIT: Put on Foxit previous version 7.2.8.1124 and no crash.

I wouldn't have spent pages discussing FoxIt but simply have gone with the open source Sumatra PDF app if not already continually using Adobe. Looked at FoxIt as well as Sumatra years back and said "no thanks"!

Everytime I run a check for updates to make sure all of the small stuff is seen before each newer build I keep running into the MS Visual C++ 2012 Update 4 now seen while the entire Visual Studio is on the main and took right off without any problems!
