Announcing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14316 Insider
-
I've been getting a weird bug with this build from the get go. When I switch on my PC and end up staring at the sign in screen, I cannot enter my PIN as I get an error message saying something like 'object not found'. I do get to login with my password, though. When I try to go to Settings > Accounts > Sign in options, Windows just loads but does not show that particular menu. Finally, wanting to get rid of the sign-in screen altogether, going to netplwiz, I see zero user accounts. Now I've made sure Windows is activated and that I've signed in using the one and only user account I have made for Windows. What gives?

I use the automatic login option here since each security update or update for something always seems to require a restart! That will get you past the pin and password sign in requirements while still keeping you signed into the MS account. Sign in User Account Automatically at Windows 10 Startup - Windows 10 Forums
Or you can opt to boot into a local account until the time comes around for the next build. Local Account - Switch to in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums
And then of course for those with a bolder appetite you could also see the Hidden System Admin account enabled to get past any bugs for the present admin account and see that a brand new user account Standard preferred is created for the every day use keeping a second new admin account under wraps until the next builds cleans things up. Administrator account - Enable or Disable in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums
You could always revert back with a clean install to the latest build the Media Creation tool will see downloaded and allow that to upgrade to this build only from a clean install to see if the turnout is better. If you didn't see a full upgrade take place which often is just what happens during upgrade installs even by WU you would likely see better results from the fresh start to 316 update.

Just saw this branch on buildfeed - rs1_release_hl. Any clues here? Is it going to be an Insdier Preview build?
-
That will be the Redstone 1 anniversary release actually general release update build coming in July. The "rs1_release" is in the feed name right there as the abbreviation. The present 14316 build now see is the initial Insider Preview look with a few more builds likely to be seen in the interim while waiting for the 1st anniversary build to be out. That one I will be planning to see a fresh clean install with and keep running on the main build with the second and VMs will simply follow suit by upgrade unless a few new VMs are set up which is likely for test purposes while keeping that one going on the main like I did for the TH2 update until that went buggy after a few months time.

Thanks for explaining this. Guess Insiders will have a few more builds to hammer on.
-
May and June and a preview likely to proceed the general release. That was seen previously as the 10586 Insider Preview out about a week and a half before the 11/11 general update went out. I have to suspect an Insider Preview version for the Redstone 1 as well will be seen.
Here I will likely just be seeing that go on before planning a full clean install with the RS1 itself as well as taking care of a clean install of 7 on the other side of the dual boot here. Since I will need to open the case to unplug drives I may as well see everything tended too at once! :)

I reported it but it still hasn't been deleted.
Kari,
Thanks for the heads up; I try to be careful, but if I am up too long, my antique mental quirks can show up & do a temp "suck U in." I do try prescience which is a type of burned once, then be wary!
Thanks,
John

. . .not much happening lately. . .seems folks are just getting to a point where commenting on the different builds just doesn't have the same meaning it use to have. . .:)

Build out Burn out! Since the Insider Preview builds are "Developer Builds" to begin with everybody has run into at least one bug at some time one or another build! "gee my mouse cursor goes up and down but I can't get to move sideways until I restart!" Seen that on a few builds already and usually after some update goes on in between builds.
