So far I haven't seen that (And I don't want to!). I just get the window asking how I want to open this no matter which browser I have set as my default. I would hate for Windows not to honor my default settings. Hmmm, since it's asking a silly question, I guess in a way my default browser setting isn't being honored.
If you have anything other then Edge set as the default it will likely be reset back to Edge. What happened here was having FF set as the default while still in the 14295 and when going to use Waterfox following the 316 going on I was prompted to see that made the default browser.

Once I did that the message for updating that to the latest release was then seen and what I was aiming at to begin with to see the latest for that browser go on. So far no longer seeing the bugginess WF had been seeing a couple of builds back. At that time it was FF getting buggy and with WF out of commission I gave Cyberfox a try and keep that on as the fast alternate if needed when either FF or WF get bugged.

In fact from keeping other browsers on as well which includes Chromer and Netscape Navigator as the odd ball browser at this time I just got an AOL prompt to switch from that to FF! Gee already have the latest FF already on!

Edge behaves oddly in 14316, anyone else having issues with it?

When launched from shortcut or Start tile, two instances starts, second with a second or so delay. First one can be closed normally, second one only if closed before first one is closed; if I close the first instance first, then the second instance can only be closed from Task Manager.

Additionally, Edge is not shown in Taskbar:

I have used Edge only a few times so far on this build but not regularly enough to find any bugs quite yet. I use Edge rather then the default browser to log into certain accounts only since I tend to randomize which browser does what.

With a look just taken and opening up a second window you should be seeing the normal duplicate mirroring effect going on when two buttons are combined which are not being seen here either as you would for any other browser. May have to ungroup the buttons and regroup them in the taskbar properties.

And the end result is.......??? Buggy! I hit the never combine and then went back to the always combine and nothing changed! You should be seeing the Edge button even using a custom icon bubble up a bit and a pair of preview thumbnails appear when hovered over.

NADA! This one has a bug! And this is having Edge pinned onto the taskbar as well I should add here.

As you will notice Waterfox at the top, WMPlayer at the lower end as well as the Creative Entertainment console for speaker setting, mixer, volume, EAX, equalizer, etc. are all seeing a raised up button with WF having a preview as usual while nothing is happening with Edge there.

There's just so many bugs - lets play spot the bug:

In my case Edge is pinned, so the blue Edge icon is present - but not the blue bar that indicates that indicates a single instance is running or the thicker bar that indicates multiple windows open.

There is also no way to get back to a minimised instance since neither the task view nor the alt tab show them.

According to task manager there are 7 Edge content process instances, but only 4 of these are cascaded. There is no "peek view" on mouseover of the edge taskbar icon.

Windows Store and Settings also do not show up as running tasks in the taskbar, although present in the cascade.
The Windows Defender glyph never shows properly in the notifications hidden icons popup (or is it just toast - I dunno), unless you scale up to 125%, because of antialiasing artefacts.

    To Wynona,

If what I am going to say has already been mentioned, I apologize.
The thread is way too long for me to go through page by page to find out. I don't have that kind of patience.

I am suggesting that perhaps you want to reset the File type associations.

Just one thought.. it is possible to assign a browser as the default from the browser options.. as in say, FF. You can go to the options and set it as the default directly and then the it shows up in the Windows setting. Until I did that FF would not show up in the Windows Settings.

Before that I didn't have FF or Chrome show up in that section of the settings..
    Just trying to help out..

I just opened Edge from my Quick Launch Bar, Kari, and only got one instance. Also, I removed all of the tiles from Start and removed Edge from the task bar.
