Essential? No. I'm just running the previews because I like to check out new builds/features. It's more of a luxury than an essential.
    Fair enough...

Question to all the pro's and experts? in this great forum

Is it really essential to load up any Windows 10 Insiders Previews? " and no offence to the original poster and full respect to him "
I just copy the ESD installer from the $Windows .~BT folder > sources folder before the restart/install WU routine that way I have it right then if need it later (after decrypting it to ISO ),simple to do ....... or WU >install fails like it has a couple of times getting stuck on updates or whatever which you can bypass mounting the ISO or media from ISO if you are custom (clean installing )

again : ESD to ISO - Create Bootable ISO from Windows 10 ESD File

Kudo's to Kari for all that

I like using then test builds for the daily driver they are on a 150GB metal primary NTFS partition and run pretty fast that way and may be faster than 10586th2 especially running a browser . I use the rest of the other ~ 800 GB 10586 th2 primary NTFS partition > windows healthy partition kinda like a storage drive along with my other hdds.

U can even run *some programs across the partition and put shortcuts on the test build desktop.anyway
or shove something in there for an instant backup

In the past, when an Insider build was released in Slow Ring, the corresponding ISO was also released.
MS stopped that practise without an explanation.
Now it resurfaces, without explanation............ except that ho-hum writing which is merely a repetition of what had been written months ago.
I thought it was when it was released to the Fast Ring?

A lot of people run it on a spare PC or in a virtual PC, just to have a look see at what might be coming down the pipe in the consumer release. The pitfalls of running it on your daily driver are it could be buggy. It's a work in progress.

No. Only when it was released in SLOW ring was the iso released.

Yes your right, too early in the morning, and I think I need a second cup of Java. I got Fast Slow backwards in my mind somehow.

I would agree if you are going to use these test builds for a daily driver a dual boot config. with a stable OS or a VM on a stable OS and prudent back ups is the way.

I'm dual booting 10295rts1 & 10586th2 on the same NTFS hdd and saving anthing I want to keep outside of 10295 to another hdd and or 10586 and backing up 10586 th2 on another drive also . I make test build ISO files out the $Windows.~ BT sources ESD folder when they come in also .

With due respect my days of beta testing are long gone since Windows 7 " first of all I have no time, second of all their a hundreds within design and engineering Windows development teams who are running these previews months ahead of time before the public gets any of these insiders beta previews " to be very honest with each and everyone of you I personally don't see any reason or benefit in testing or loading any of these beta's or previews that's just me, and many others....

I respect the fact if you like the Insiders program and enjoy all these beta's don't get me at all wrong please.

It just doesn't cut it for me and there is really nothing at all for me in these beta versions " just a personal insight of one member"

I respect if you like them and I respect the folks who feel and see it how I see it also

July 30 2016 is not far out of reach for your major wave release of Windows 2016 :)

Yesterday I used the link to download the 64-bit ISO to my ext hdd. It took over 2 hours.
At the end an error message popped up but I unplugged the ext hdd too fast I did not catch what it said.

Here is the screenshot of my downloaded iso file, with the file size.
Can anyone confirm it is good to use ?
I hope I don't have to download again.
