So far despite the guide there I still haven't been able to get that cmd file he shared to do much more then a lightning fast flash on the screen when trying to open the app's main screen or window. It was having the av turned off as advised which lead to the search for an alternate method that saw the bot go on! So as an end result to see the 7 VM upgraded to the last build I saw the Windows sub transferred into a receiving folder on the second partition the VM has?

How did I manage to see a second partition created on a 60gb vhd? When going to increase the size of the VM itself due to having run into the 88gb minimum factor the 7 VM didn't grow any but saw the vhd grow by itself where the second partition was then made new and formatted. The manual startup of the upgrade while not being able to be recorded saw several screens made and went smoothly.

    Cannot disable the lock screen!

I've tried every "solution" from regedit, gpedit.msc, etc.pp...
Additionally Windows forces me to always type my password after wake up from standby.
This setting is/was also disabled at any known location and worked fine before this build.
Gosh, this is really f*cking annoying and renders my tablet almost useless, since I have a complicated PW, which is hard to remember.
Why does MS release such a buggy junk in the slow ring?

EDIT: found this in the meantime:

Solution found... Next! I wish this was true for one of the Android tablets I bought for a friend's two sons, daughter married and with recent newborn not included at the time for holiday gifts. One never wrote his password down and hasn't been able use his model. And neither of the two kept track of the user manuals!

Despite finding the brand name on several sites not one link to a manufacturer's support site.

right I just swipe (actually copy) a new test build out the $ WINDOWS.~BT >sources folder and if I need it later for any number of reasons like I have now and then..... I just decrypt it and mount the ISO or make install media and I keep a copy [off] this NTFS partition just in case Windows wont load to fetch it .

Note to anybody ........you have to get that out the $BT folder (copy it ) before a restart install Windows ---- WU routine

Kudos to Gold Member Kari .....here's the scoop : ESD to ISO - Create Bootable ISO from Windows 10 ESD File - Windows 10 Forums
Not really, Cousin . . . You can get it after the (any) update has completed installation:

    This PC>Local Disk (C:)>$Windows.~BT>Sources>Install.esd

Well, now, that's just funny! A smiley face right in the middle of the path! Let's try again:

This PC>Local Disk (C)>$Windows.~BT>Sources>Install.esd (had to leave out the colon)

Once there, copy Install.esd wherever you want to save it for future use.

I generally complete the process by creating and storing an ISO in a folder with the name of the current build, such as Build 14295. I also store Install.esd in that folder.

Kari's instructions give a faster way to get Install.esd.

    Hi,

Frankly, I can't be bothered with making ISO's for Preview installs really. I just back up the thing and that's it.

Anyone noticed how SFC / SCANNOW rarely returns any errors anymore after a new insider install. Well, once you get it working that is ?

I like the current preview a lot. Too bad the same old errors show in event viewer. I stopped fixing them since every new update brings them back and they don't seem to do any harm anyways.

Other than that, pretty fast and smooth. Like it.

    Cheers,

Well for the most part following the 10240 installs last summer this has been the only build so far running into any sound issues while the generally released Threshold 2 Update 10586 version 1511 build went buggy in late January and was finally replaced with the 14257 and has 10 continue on until this build now seeing another minor bug in comparison. But once again we are still running Developer not Main Stream builds with anything that followed the TH2!

That's odd I tried a $Windows.~BT>Sources>Install.esd copy routine from WU D/L and it (ESD) wasn't there only some other stuff but it was sometime after the WU > Insider build install ?

I copy the WU ESD like above before the re start/install since then it's not time consuming and when I get around to making an ISO I store it like you do in a named folder in a directory with the ESD in the folder also but outside of the test build NTFS partition altogether .

I'll sure do it both ways and see what happens next time though and give you a holler either way

What I was running into early on with the first upgrades before the TH2 was finding the Windows files stashed in the Windows sub under the WS or QT folder in one case for the Pro upgrades while the Home upgrades would always be found in the BT folder. Seeing the QT was a goof one day! That was on an older 10 VM however. The 14271 saw the install.wim file while both the 14267 and 14279 builds saw the Install.esd instead.

Sure downloading is fine with some bandwidth and moreover if you don't need an ISO right away *which can certainly happen* when a WU (Insider build install) stalls or fails ..

OTOH swiping /copying the ESD and making an ISO out the WU download isn't :really : anthing for an experienced user and you can multi task doing all that anyway & backing up somehow and usually not up to the minute is or should be a given anyway .

I save anthing important outside of the test build NTFS partition immediatly to pinned quick access folder links in the directory tree or in the same type desktop shortcuts I made just because of that or if I want a clean install for any number of reasons outside of Windows 10 .

No apparent reason to do an sfc /scannow even though I ran the script to correct the sfc error about all that but I might try it I do those periodically anyway .

I'm encoding a movie from DVD 9 size ISO to DVD 5 size and file structure right now for a back up DVD disc for the family i.e, I'm multi tasking again .

I surely didn't sound important saying all this nobody cares anyway but choices are good right ..
