In Windows Snip go to options > check the tick box to " show screen overlay when snipping tool is active " that should fix it . 14279 un checked that setting here when it came in and it fixed windows snip as soon as I checked the tick box .

You can change your Wifi settings temporarily to a metered connection that will stop windows update altogether but you can still manually use WU as needed .

OTOH If you let it download maybe leave 14279 in your $WINDOWS BT folder maybe that will stop the 14279 WU downloads and restart prompts .

Once you revert to the slow ring it may be nearly impossible to re join the fast ring without starting up another Windows Insider account or at least rejoining W.I. with your existing M.S. Account

I rolled back an earlier test build and WU left me alone until a later build I didn't have to change anthing .

Do you mean check or uncheck? I have tick mark at this option: (I did this the old fashion way - printscreen and paint..).

No... crash on both options.

No I meant to checkmark showing in the Win. Snip show screen overlay tick box. 14279 un -checked it here and it wouldn't work at all .

FWIW I have all the tick boxes checked and showing check marks in Win snip options .

Yeah, that's the way it's behaved in the past. Going to just try leaving it in the Windows BT folder like you suggested and see if that works. Thanks.

that's bummer about win snip I use it all the time maybe a clean install 14291 is working way better than 14279 here

In Snipping Tool Options like this but black ink and I have all the boxes with check marks . Checking the show screen overlay check box is the one that fixed it in 14291 here .

OK, but I guess, that 1st an last doesn't really matter.

So this wasn't helping much for me. Next step is reinstall the drivers.
