I just want to be able to go to the 'old' All Apps screen when I click Start.

Have you seen this tutorial? I'm with you on the All apps menu - I reverted to the Resizable Start menu (although the nomenclature doesn't help - Expandable vs. Resizable ??????)

I loathed it, at first. Passionately. Never used it in Win 8, at all. 3rd-party all the way.

But, having made a conscious decision to persevere with it when 8.1 was released for testing, and having gotten it to work the way I wanted, I actually started to like it. And it started to become intuitive and 'second-nature'. I no longer had to stop and think about things, they just happened.

Now, it seems I'm to 'forget all that rubbish', and go back to a 'new' Start menu which, to me at least, is neither fish nor fowl.

Hi Wenda. Did you realize that Brink has created a few tutorials on switching back to the Start Screen in W10? He has one method where you can use the context menu to toggle between the Start Menu(s) and the Start Screen. I used the Bat File he created to switch over to the Start Screen without the context menu toggle, because I also like the All Apps screen and prefer to just to leave it there.

    Yeah, I did see that.

But it's All Apps I want, not the Start screen.

    Ah, well...

You should be able to achieve that with Shawn's tweaks:

and the Settings over on that UI:
