Empirical evidence (based on W8 previews and final release) suggests that in fact it might not get better.
The W8 Start Screen did not get better until a year after it was released.
W8.1 brought some improvements.

If the creators of 3rd party Start Menus think they can make money, by releasing one for W10, why shouldn't they?

We have to keep in mind that the source for the OP information is not a great one to start with and the question is just silly IMO. Yes,, we do need to have third party options for a start menu because we should have options. Is that unreasonable to have options?? In my mind it's not.. far from it. Again, the OP article is just stirring the pot for no reason.

Hi there

Like all things - there's no harm if someone thinks there's a market out there then let them try and supply it.

For myself I won't b bothering with it. I hope though the menu at least goes back to the previous BUILD (9879). You can with Brink's tutorial change the default on build 9926 to the previous one.

If you don't like the tiles (Hybrid) you can simply UNPIN them.

I quite like this plain nice clean looking menu.

I understand what you mean, it's just nice that there are options out there to chose from even if I don't choose to make use of them,, variety is the spice of life.

I personally find Windows 7 interface, easier and more informative to use. I like being able to right click a program and see it's properties which is not available in 10. I personally find Windows 10, less informative and a downgrade from previous versions. For being able to use Modern apps in conjunction with Legacy programs, I believe Windows 8/8.1 with Start8's (window 7 menu) is a better balanced approach for me.

Hi there

Properties are EASY to find also with the W10 start menu -- simply right mouse click -- open file location and then properties.

From the file location you can also send the application to the desktop if you want just like W7.

Can't really understand the difficulty here.

A problem is MS not showing everything in start menu search and (in this build anyway) no way to turn it on. In earlier builds and Windows 8 you could enable viewing of applications in administrative tools. In current build you can't.

You search for "Powershell ISE" and it isn't found for example. Hopefully this is a bug - if not a start menu that shows all applications (not excluding some for unknown reasons) would be welcome.

Honestly, I don't like the search feature. In most cases using Google results in a better result than the MS search... IMO. YMMV.

I didn't mean internet search - I meant programs on your PC are not shown. If I want to open Powershell ISE this is the result after pressing the

key - it doesn't exist.

To open it you have to go to control panel, administrative tools etc. Sure there are workarounds but some things are hidden by default on start menu and if this is deliberate and continues I'd want an alternative.
