You can block adds on a lot of web pages by clicking on "Reading View" when showing....to the left of star...top right hand corner.

Adding extension support is fine, but then someone has to code those extensions. I'm of the mindset that I'll stick with chrome primarily for now. I use Edge on occasion, but I will wait for it to mature. Yes, it is definitely better than on the original release, but it has a long way to go before it can compete with the browsers that have been around for some time.

Extensions aside, I'll use Edge when it behaves like a browser and not an app.
Heck, might as well use UC Browser or the Google search app!
