Well that is another point taken! I ran with Mic A foobar early on however and had been instantly displeased back with 95! 98SE on the other hand was first to experience the bloatware factor. AVG Free sounded real good back when XP was new! Vista followed and then 7 arrived but was still seeing IE factors while IE 7 fixed a major long time security risk IE 6 mare! And you wonder why FF got so popular? he he he on MS taking too long!
When 7 first arrived Trend Micro was a first thought as far as the paid for stuff goes but still seemed to lack! Just took a look at the 2016 AVG Internet Security and naaaa.... You see when av programs were simply what people were findng wasn't enough they started looking the new av kid on the block Sunbelt bringing something new in.
An updated base for the retail side while the long timers were still stuck in old school thinking is what was starting to take notice! Suddenly everybody had to "Internet Security" to compete with the new kid. The end result wasn't always so productive however for the typical user! The corporations on the other hand with the resources simply saw a new tax write off making the av companies discover a pot of gold!
Personally the decision here wasn't to simply pay out for some new program but find something I could point some other... somewhat lazy? users would go for instead of the need to fix their wanderings all over! Even the kids managed to pull in some good ones when the laptops were first being loaned out! I also was the one asked ot assemble all the newer desktop builds until the laptops they decided were more interesting! Gee photos and social networking has more or less kept them away from the previously seen bugs at least!
