    @dencal:
    Yontoo Layers is an extension for Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome that is typically added when you install another free software (video recording/streaming, download-managers or PDF creators) that had bundled into their installation this adware program. When you install these free programs, they will also install Yontoo Layers as well. Some of the programs that are known to bundle Yontoo Layers include , PageRage, TornTV, 1ClickDownloader, Text Enhance, Strong Vault, CoupnDropDown, DropDownDeals and many other programs.

    For example, when you install FLV Player, you will also agree to install Yontoo Layers, however when you will uninstall this program, Yontoo Layers will not be removed from your computer. This means that you’ll manually have to remove Yontoo Layers from your browser and computer.

    Once installed, the Yontoo Layers program will displays offers, coupons and advertisements via a pop-up boxes and javascript on the websites that you are visiting.

    You should always pay attention when installing software because often, a software installer includes optional installs, such as this Yontoo Layers. Be very careful what you agree to install.
    Always opt for the custom installation and deselect anything that is not familiar, especially optional software that you never wanted to download and install in the first place. It goes without saying that you should not install software that you don’t trust.

    Cliff.
    Malwarebytes was the only App installed outside of the Windows store, from their own site.? though I admit it seemed smaller than usual.

    Finally removed last vestiges of these highjackers....with that wonderful piece of software Search Everything.+ just one leftover in the registry.
    Mbam.....10/10..... it hurts me to say this having just purchased the M$ showpiece computer....not too enamoured with Defender, and as on all my other computers installed will be Avira, Mbam, and Mbam anti exploit.

    1st off, I have been using Everything for a very long time, love it, i'm using his newest beta too, seems quicker.
    I also use Malwarebytes Pro, along with 3 other PAID for programs. I been reading your last few posts, and I seem to agree with your feelings on this issue myself. But everyone has a choice, Ours is maybe different from others. So that's ok with me. Whatever works for everyone and makes them feel comfy is fine with me. Take Care dencal :)

    Totally agree Mike. As I posted earlier in this thread it's a horses for courses situation and it's a case of using whatever AV you feel confident with. Personally I use Eset NOD32, MBAM free and I've also got SUPERAntiSpyware Pro as a standby. I don't mind paying for NOD32 as it has served me well over the past 10 years.

    So really this thread could go on for years with no positive outcome as everbody here has their own favourite AV. And long may it stay that way.
