Set up desktop to update to this latest....in the meantime working on laptop connected with Ethernet cable, when note appeared above internet access box "unidentified access".
Further investigation revealed my laptop was only working Wi-Fi.
Troubleshooter revealed missing protocols were preventing Ethernet connection, checking speed confirmed this.
My desktop download had stopped half way through.....this might have been what caused the problem.
Solved the protocol problem on the laptop by opening Device Manager, disabled Ethernet Controller, then Enabled.
Forced closure on the desktop...M$ restored previous installation....then finished downloaded latest iteration.

Add finished as had already downloaded half.

Can't disable the Lockscreen in this build. I have the home edition. Already tried editing the registry. It doesn't work anymore. I think this is ridiculous.
I heard that the lock screen and sign in screen are one in the same on this Build, maybe that has something to do with it. Just a guess.

Yes, MS has merged 2 into 1.

    excerpt:
Updated logon experience: Previously on PC, there were two separate backgrounds for the Lock screen and then the logon screen. We’re merging the experience so there is just a single background – your Lock screen background. This is similar to the behavior seen on mobile. If you have a custom Lock screen background set, you will see your Lock screen background is now used for both the Lock screen and logon screen. If you’re a Windows Spotlight user – hold tight, you’ll see this change soon in a future build. We’re also working on some additional tweaks here to make the transition between the Lock screen and logging in much smoother.

I wish this Build would come through for me so I don't have to resort to alternative means to obtain it!

The lock screen and the logon screen are still two separate screens. The background colors or pictures are now the same.

Actually correct answer is in the middle of the road:

We have some control over this feature (I think so).

Merging works with picture set as lock screen, but not with Windows spotligh.

Naw, I've got a system with 14271 on it right now, and just had some wonderful spotlights yesterday and today. :)
It's here for me too. Also asked me if I like it.

I also heard that 'Windows Spotlight' is getting the axe!

(For Pete's sake, I can't wait any longer, I'm installing this Build myself!)

What a shame! There were some great photos served to me (and some not for my taste - but that's the point of it).

When I had 14279 installed, both Lock screen and logon screen have the same picture.
I have since reverted back to 14271 because of failed Wi-Fi connected, so I can't post a screenshot to prove it.
