According to the stats, Windows 10 continues a consistent monthly share gain of nearly 1%, to 12.82% in February from 11.85% in January, and 9.96% in December last year. This is certainly good news for Microsoft, who went so far as to make the update free for Windows 7 and 8.1 to drive adoption.

Windows 10 is the best OS in my opinion ever and I have used Windows from 3.1 upwards.
Wonder if anyone remembers getting BSOD on windows 98 nearly every day until the fix came along.
Also how many hours on dialup it took to do an update
The unimpressive monthly adoption rates for Windows 10 is not much of a story anymore and the increase for February actually dropped from January. The Windows 10 market-share had been increasing around 1% monthly for the final quarter of 15 and peaked for January "16" at around 2% but has now returned to around 1%. I suspect Windows 7 will be around for a long time. Windows 10 is what It is and it is here to stay, only time will reveal it's evolution.
I am unimpressed. For a new and strategic OS that is a pretty dismal performance. Look at XP - that is impressive. So long after they tried everything to kill it.
I think we are getting to the end of the road with XP though (even with Vista somewhat prematurely). Google, Opera and Adobe have all tossed their roses on the grave, and a lot of other vendors are following suit. Yes, XP is going surprisingly strong nearly two years of post-support. I was hopeful for an unofficial KernelEx project which was supposed to extend XPs life by making newer binaries compatible with XP, but that seems to have been vapourware.
I would have thought that the Windows 10 adoption rate might be higher by now, but it will certainly take hold eventually. At some point, it will be the only supported choice for those wanting to stay on the Windows platform.
You've seemed to have had a ghastly amount of problems with past Windows versions. Even with Windows 98 or ME, I simply didn't have as many application error screens as you've seemed to. Maybe if I tried newer hardware, or I was messing around with my system more than I should have. Windows 2000 Professional was solid as a rock. I would say it was even MORE stable than XP. Windows XP x64 Edition was probably the most rock-solid OS I had used (but I was lucky to have completely supported hardware). But you even mention Windows Vista giving you issues with printing. Did you stay around for SP2? It bettered the original release many times over.
I never used Windows 7 other than at work. It seemed decent though even upon its RTM release.
I will not deny Windows 10 is VERY stable and brisk. It runs well. I simply don't like the layout or cosmetics.
Umm ... W10 is not the "BEST", its good but far from BEST. 95/98 had no problem getting updates from dialup as they were optimized for those types of downloads at that time, I should remember.
Agreed, I've used a lot of the operating systems as well and the only ones that I ever had BSOD's or complete failure to boot and or total corruption for unknown reasons were Windows 95, Windows XP (virus or my own fault/bad drivers) and Vista. 98SE and 2000 were super stable for me. Never used ME. XP was great as long as it was optimized and 7 and 8.1 were a dream, 7 being my favorite.
Don't see how 10's the best when its still a WIP, its not even complete. Even the EDGE browser is a total joke. A re-hash of IE, common. Doesn't matter what you use to surf (Chrome, Opera, Firefox, Safari, Maxthon) all are vastly superior to IE & EDGE and always will be.
I love me some Waterfox (x64 FF) but Chrome x64 BETA is hella fast too, and is right up there neck and neck, in some cases superior then FF but I like the complete customization what FF has to offer. If EGDE wasn't tied into the O/S I'd delete that garbage in a heartbeat.
