Rumors are that they will keep the start screen option. But it is only a rumor..
Now that would be good. I could make use of that option.

I don't think it is or ever was an MS option, it was merely a hack somebody figured out, wasn't it?

I guess, but in order to be hacked, the function has to be there somehow.

I agree, the function had to be there so it could be activated via the hack.

    The Start screeen
Reworked into a toggle button but still there.

    The Charms menu
Reworked but still there (AFAIK tablets still get the Charms menu).

    Corner-based navigation
    Same as above.

    Full-screen Metro apps

    From SkyDrive to OneDrive
    Renaming isn't exactly "tossed away".

That leaves 4 features that yet may still reappear at a later time

    • The People hub
    • Windows Media Center
    • Share contracts
    • The two-headed Internet Explorer

If you just use them for media players, it doesn't really matter. However, there are plenty of third party media center apps out there...
I don't want to use a 3rd party program I want to use Windows Media Center which is easy to use and does the job properly.

The Start Screen didn't get axed, it got somewhat neutered.

Media Center won't be a huge loss at all, Media Player should also leave as well but that would mean Xbox Music would have to stop sucking and we can't have that.

Share contracts are still not gone, Charms bar got removed.

It's like the author hasn't used Windows 8 nor 10...

Don't know.. post feedback that it's a feature that you still want. Who knows, if enough also want it they might keep it.

There are a few other losses - e.g. the 'Check for updates' has disappeared from the Control Panel.
'Check for updates' is in Settings now, under Update & Recovery.
