    I have succeeded in creating a shortcut that brings you directly to the "Check for updates" button in Windows Update, in the settings app.
    You only need the click the shortcut, and when it opens hit the Return/Execute key: Solved Windows 10 Themes created by Ten Forums members - Page 157 - Windows 10 Forums

    And the WD updates simply will not go if VIPRE is running! That seems to be a constant regardless of which build is on! So I simply shut it down long enough to run the check a couple of times until each update takes. I think you will this may be happening with a number of other softwares as well. The shortcut works out excellent however to cut down on the need to opening the Start menu>Settings>Update section over and over or even pinned to the Start menu itself having it in a Quick Launch toolbar or pinned on the taskbar
