Microsoft Moves Taskbar Options To Settings In Redstone
By Barry Richards -
February 25, 2016
More specifically, Windows 10 build 14271, which is the latest version of the Redstone preview that we have to.
It moves further towards the ultimate retirement of the Control Panel.
The desktop one, that is.
Classic as it is, the Settings app is where the action is at in Windows 10 — as more and more options are being moved to this universal application. Redstone has just taken it one step further, and if this trend holds, we could see a range of new options part of Settings by the time this update for the OS arrives.
As noted, the latest version that Microsoft released moves the taskbar configuration options from the desktop Control Panel to Settings.
That doesn't come as any surprise here since the mention of seeing the original CP phased out completely was in reports months ago! The move is mostly to integrate all the familiar settings into touchscreen capable format for both mobile and desktop platforms.
The Task Manager was the first to follow the introduction of Aero with Vista when 8 arrived. The new Performance, Resource, Startup options were integrated into the new form of TM at the time. It would stand to reason other types of integration would come as well as the OS progresses rather then stagnates with the Legacy to XP look and feel.

The CP isn't going away just yet like in a secret overnight move. The taskbar is generally set up bringing up the Start menu/taskbar properties screen. MS simply adding what you see there as far as the Taskbar only to the new Settings screen. When going to use a touchscreen tablet for example you won't have the right click option as you would even on netbook as well as laptops and desktops.

Not actually! If you are that concerned about seeing change coming about you would still be running one of the Legacy versions on some old clunker you kept running! Even 3.1 and 95 are now being run in web browsers! W8 was the one to stay away from most recently being a mess there! You notice it got replaced in a heart with 8.1 and now 10 brings back a bit of what was tossed after 7!
W11? or whatever is to come after 10 might have you more worried in that regard.

I don't see the logic of it. Putting all controls in one place is apparently the goal, but I think putting each set of controls in the best place for that particular function works better. Getting to taskbar settings via a right click on the taskbar itself isn't only more convenient, but makes more sense, IMO.
Uhmm... I see no way to delete a post on the TenForums options. So, unless someone can tell me what I'm missing, or a moderator can delete this post, I will have to leave it here...Sorry!

Soooooo...????
What's the big deal?
You can still access Taskbar options with a right click.
Having them in Control Panel(or the Settings App for that matter), is just a redundancy.
