I've got a cheap Lumia 635 and I have no clue what I'm doing! Here goes! (I hope this works!)
It would suck if I bricked my first Windows phone!

If you need the phone then I wouldn't try this early build.

Well, I see MS' line of thinking. They don't wanna brick more expensive phones I guess. But they need to test it out on something.

Not many people bought them so they should have lots in the warehouse to play with, they will be somewhere near all the surface RT's

Yup. Maybe the RT that I returned is also still there, too.

It'll be available for the other Windows 8.1 phones like my 1520 later according to this.

This is why higher-end Lumia phones can't currently run the Windows 10 Preview | Windows Central

I have two supported phones on that list --->

Shame Tesco Mobile have put their prices back up. Around Christmas time they had the Lumia 630 for £59 and Lumia 635 for £79, both on PAYG with no contract. If they bring the prices back down again they'll be ideal for testing Windows 10 on, especially as Denim (and therefore Cortana) isn't available for Tesco Mobile phones yet.

    -------------------------------

ETA: There was me thinking the Tesco price was good, it looks like Americans can get a Lumia 635, contract free for $50 (£32)!

Want a phone that can run Windows 10? Grab this Lumia 635 for just under $50 right now | Windows Central

K, that was a good learning experience!
Quite the ordeal though. About 2½ hours of updates!
    Seems to be working!
Still looking around but things look great so far!
