I tried every trick I have seen to try and force an update to 14267 from 14257, and nothing worked, and finally I did something very simple. I just clicked to leave the Insider Programme, and then rebooted, rejoined the Programme, rebooted, checked for updates and 'blow me down and shiver me timbers', it started to download updates!

So for those having issues, not seeing updates, this is worth a try.
Yep, that's been suggested several times, but it doesn't work for everyone. So far, I haven't had to do that. I've gotten updates within hours to a day or so.

I just installed an SSD drive and Windows is now on it. First things first . . . Office 365 ProPlus installed and working. Gotta set up a few more things and then I'll reboot to see if a clean install on the SSD solved the problem.

Interesting.... I tried waltc's suggestion (see post #156) of cycling down to slow ring and back to fast ring (cold restarts in between) with no immediate effect. However, I did get the update about 3 reboots (and 6 hours) later - couldn't distinguish the effect of what waltc suggested from coincidence . Next time I have the wait (assuming that occurs), I'll try to remember cycling completely out and then back in.

Well now((according the Insider news email that just came in days after the fact) you are going to have a brand new option added to the list! Just received word about the new Release Preview ring being added to provide a 3rd option of keeping the 10586 based flavored builds to receive early access to things. I'll quote only the first part of the email since the other two paragraphs are the Infor for Developers and Info for IT Pros. The blog came out last thursday being the 18th of the month.(as everyone already knows)

Take a look at the new and helpful info about the Windows Insider Program.

Windows Insider Program | Before you install | How-to | Windows Feedback app | Forums

    Hello,
We introduced a new ring named the Windows Insider Release Preview ring for both PC and mobile. The Release Preview ring will focus on Insiders that want to stay on the Current Branch (currently builds based off of 10586), but continue to receive early access to updates, application updates, and driver updates.
The 3 Windows Insider rings are:
    • Fast – Best for Insiders who enjoy being the first to get access to builds and feature updates, with some risk to their devices in order to identify issues, and provide suggestions and ideas to make Windows software and devices great.
    • Slow – Best for Insiders who enjoy getting early access to builds and feature updates, with less risk to their devices, and still want to provide feedback to make Windows software and devices great.
    • Release Preview – Best for Insiders who enjoy getting early access to updates for the Current Branch, Microsoft applications, and drivers, with minimal risk to their devices, and still want to provide feedback to make Windows devices great.
Read my blog for more details.
On another note, I'd like to thank you all for your incredible response to our recent Windows Insider Program survey that we sent in December. The feedback you provided will help us make the Insider Program even better and more exciting in 2016. Congratulations to Wilfried J., a Windows 10 fan and developer from Germany, who won our sweepstakes for a Surface Book for completing the survey!

    Thanks!
    g

They wait until the week that follows and then send out the emails apparently after people have already seen it come in while others may end up seeing the same dilemma a new of us saw with the 14257 taking forever as some felt. But I thought I would share that part of the email here for anyone not subscribed to the Insider news.

Well it was just like how slow he 14257 came in! The emailings were slower then molasses this time around apparently. The generally mailing was simply days late while the build was right there last week!

A workaround for late preview build I've used with some sucess is to temporarly stop telemetry using O&O Shutup. Reboot and then change back to "factory settings"

I didn't have to do anything besides get those other updates on with one holdup being for Windows Defender on the last build. That kept stalling and simply wouldn't go on with the rest. This time however right after the first three of the five were on you saw the 14267 download while the others went on. That followed the restart after the first 3 finished.

Once those last two were on the unpacking started the first restart for the 14267 was all it took to see that move along. Perhaps Later I will back those two VMs up onto the drive used to store system images and time to unplug the 10 drive to get 7 on fresh again. Once the VMs are squared away after the fresh install there again that other Pro VM will decide to upgrade? Have to see! :)
