Why not do a Clean Install of Win8.1?

OPTION ONE (Media Creation Tool) in
Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 ISO - Download or Create

gets you the media and then it's just a Clean install

Hmmmmmm!. . .Good Question. . .Simple answer don't have a legal copy, nor an illegal copy. . ., hence no reason to go out and buy a new one with the free upgrade.

I have a 8.0 key and that worked with the 8.1 ISO form the MCT.

I'm a little confused Aha! I checked your specs ... Apple! That's an interesting twist. I wonder how MS will accommodate your configuration...
Great something else new to learn - thanks for the heads up Lee.

I'm fairly certain though that you won't be able to update Win(anything) with the install not activated.
Pricing is still up in the air - maybe MS will offer Win10 extremely cheap the first 30 days and then relatively cheap the next 30 days to boost numbers.

Does this fall into the OEM category
    - Apple is responsible for the Win10 upgrade - how about that for irony!
