    I'm not playing semantics.

On the fast ring you get new builds and on the slow ring you don't.

That isn't semantics - it is just how it is.
That may currently be due to the cadence and frequency of new builds lately. I don't believe MS designed the slow ring to not get builds. It is just how it is.

Lately??? The last 2 builds on the slow ring have been 10240 in July and 10586 in November - the same as people who were not on insider program.

If there is some reason to be an insider on the slow ring it is completely beyond me - you may as well not bother as you get nothing except publicly released builds. Perhaps it will change in future.

Yes, lately. As in since the beginning of the year. What is history is history. They (MS) even changed the build numbering to be more in sync with mobile. And fulfilled their promise to publish (flight) at a quicker pace. If someone wants to be on slow ring at this pace, they may as well drop out of Insider.

Thank you for your response, Wynona. No, everything is correct and fast ring is selected. Just a real puzzle. I know I am not alone in this situation, as NightHawk has indicated he, and many others, have this issue as well.
It took 2 or 3 weeks for b10586 to show up for me (after most people here had got it).

I only got b11102 ~1 day before b14257 was released.

W10IP b14257 hasn't appeared here yet (Fast Ring).

Thanks for the encouragement for me and for the many who have stopped getting insider build updates. Maybe there is hope.

Actually we have gotten builds on the slow ring . . . they're just slower than molasses in January.

As for gaming while many raved on about XP in years past with Vista and 7 close cousins there you might have to download and install the full version of DX9 for older titles while in 10 those same titles are no longer requiring DX9 which wouldn't even go on as well as no longer running into the OpenGL issues up until this point at least.
Who would want to play an ancient DX9 game these days anyway ? You would be far better off being a console slave from X bone 360/PS3 and up maybe even PS 2 /X box or playing DX11 /DX 12 games on a decent modern PC build and dGPU than using any lame PC/ GPU build or game that only uses DX9 gaming also I haven't seen Open GL forever it's positively ancient :)

FWIW I fixed my Windows 10 10586/14257 dual boot issue I posted earlier where 10586 wouldn't load with a simple Windows 10 Command Prompt (Admin) bootmgr edit work around...... then the recent 10586 cumulative update I loaded yesterday fixed the Windows 10 graphical boot loader app and maybe the 10586 MBR also , as I understand it that's maybe where the Insiders builds puts the graphical dual boot loader ? .........Anyway what ever happened It's all regular dual booting now as before .:)

Who knows ........maybe we get another Fast Ring Insider build this week ?

Some are still running into the upgrade problem since the 14257 simply is not showing up at all! With the 10 Home VM that had been from the 10576 to 10586 Insider Preview to Threshold 2 and onto the the 14257 when getting around to firing up the test build that had been sitting around not being run for a month(holiday break as well as a few other things tended to). The primary physical OS drive on the other hand had seen the physical clean install for the 10565 upgrade to 10576 upgrade to 10586 Insider builds all and onto the TH2 Update with the last two upgrades going as smooth as silk showing some serious bugs had been addressed in contrast to the 10240 upgrades!

The limit on number of upgrades however must have been reached where now a clean install of the TH2 on the main drive would likely see the latest insider build come in there. In the past you saw the registry involved with the option to extend the trial period from the 28 days to the longer 90 or 120 day with some blogs pointing as long as 360 days by continual use of the rearm command as well as changing on registry value which could be one reason why the 14257 isn't being downloaded as it had been on the 7 install lately even after that had seen the 10 app removed in October and the KB3035583 update hidden from being in the list of optional and recommended updates until MS made the Feb. 1st change with the 10 app itself and somehow the KB3035583 became unhidden after so long and went on with the latest check for updates a week ago!

I have to suspect that anyone presently not able to see the 14257 go on would need to replace the existing install to see a clean install of the TH2 or get a download fresh from the Tech Bench site and then watch to see if the clean install from that iso ends up seeing the 14257 arrive in the updates when leaving everything set for automatic as well as keeping the slider Slow-Fast left at the Fast setting which has seen previous builds arrive in only a few hours times once the Get insider builds option was enabled.

It's best to let those who want to go to those sites figure it out for themselves. The only official site for downloading Windows 10 Insider builds is microsoft.com.

Very easy mistake to make. Your are right though,We shouldn't suggest to look for sites if they lead to unofficial downloads.
You shouldn't actually be continuing to even discuss that type of subject to begin with and simply drop it entirely as the best advice! When not getting anything from a genuine source or an authorized 3rd party distribution site you chance anything incluiding malware lacings and rather malicious codings in stuff that has been tampered with. The experienced user will only recommend looking for things at the origin or authorized 3rd party site. That's it! Nothing else has to be said.

Why? You won't need a Steam account for one reason! Valve/Steam seems to have manipulated the pc gaming market quite well over the years! Even the finally seen sequel to Duke Nukem 3D taking forever saw Duke Forever arrive BUT Steam account required! Soldier of Fortune II's eventual sequel Payback "Steam please"! As well as Fear I being a stand alone until Fear II required what again? Steam please! It gets a bit too much after a time!

Plus it was always a good opt to see how well some old ancient prehistoric title can actually run better now then in years past! Just imagine that! Compatibility testing with each new version has also played a small role as well especially when leaving the 32bit Windows behind for good! Those old 32bit apps and games still hanging on!
