Today Microsoft Starts the Most Aggressive Windows 10 Upgrade Campaign

One is manufactured and the other is created using human skills.
They are both "manufactured" and both are/were created with plenty of "human skills".
MS is doing it to get everyone to WIndows 10 faster to cut future support costs.
MS can do whatever they want - but again - if Windows 10 is so great - so essential, so hip and cool - every single Windows user would be upgrading as fast a humanly possible and leaving their existing OS behind at record speed.
Reality paints a much different picture. Windows 7 will be the one that still "works" - and will be supported in full until April 2020.
Windows 10 Pro (retail) is still 199 and the OEM are still charging you when you buy a new system.
Would love to see a overall sales chart on 10 Pro - I cannot imagine anyone being dumb enough to pay actual money for this in it's current state. Especially when hundreds of millions seemingly can't be bothered to take it for free.

Since a couple of days, GWX displays 100 million, although it did correctly display 200 million before. I will be doing my taxes on that machine ... Well, no Windows 10 on that machine, at least not until after tax time ...

Never heard that saying, the saying was actually "Nobody ever got fired for buying IBM". It was a marketing strategy for IBM to discourage customers from buying other brands.

IBM also had vastly better customer support than any other company at the time. I recall while in college I was learning COBOL on an IBM mainframe and the documentation was fantastic and when I had to use a DEC to learn Pascal the documentation was... horrible!! And the IBM Type M Keyboard still is one of the best of all time.. IMO. I love that keyboard.

I agree and still have about a half-dozen of those keyboards!

IBM also had vastly better customer support than any other company at the time. And the IBM Type M Keyboard still is one of the best of all time.. IMO. I love that keyboard.
Doesn't those have the nice loud clunky keys? I have an old 80-key keyboard that has nice sturdy loud keys, and it types immaculately. I loved IBM keyboards. For some dumb reason, I liked viewing text-based screens from PC-DOS or AIX on PS/2 monitors (even the small ones ...lol)

Yes,, those. They just were bullet proof and I like using them. On Tuesday I'm getting a half mechanical keyboard delivered.

I did the Win 10 upgrade on my 5 - 6 year old HP laptop and lost the use of the function keys. Quickly reverted back to Win 7!

Some people are lost after the upgrade and get very angry LOL
I have helped 12 people who had upgraded their computers to Windows 10 and then got very angry. They were casual home users who had no background in computers. The first question has been where are my IE favorites and what's Cortana. Most of them hated Edge and want to know why they can't play DVDs anymore. After putting IE back on the task bar and customizing their screen to what they were used to they were Happy. Those coming from Windows 7 are not happy losing their games but after showing them the online games they were just OK with that. I can't imagine how many calls Microsoft has received from people who are lost after the upgrade. MS has a lot of courage to push Windows 10 so hard but I guess they figure it has to be done. I have given several people instructions to follow after they upgrade to Windows if they are unhappy with Edge and default programs like the image viewer. It is hard to explain to them their loss of playing DVDs without more anger. I have trained a couple of people so they can help their friends and family out after the 10 upgrade and that is going smooth. It has been a rocky road for people who know very little about computers and just want to look at their e-mail, browse the internet and play their home videos on DVD. All of the problems have been fixable but not by the casual users I know who don't care what their OS is.

I understand that there are registry edits that can be made to stop W 10 nagging. Google it.
