    Hi all, silly question time, having previously installed KB3136562 without any problems. Decided to uninstall, all went well and version of windows reverted to 10586.71, but update history still shows that I installed KB3136562.
    Is this correct ? or should it have been removed from here also.

    Thanks in advance for any help.

    As far as I'm aware that is correct as only shows the install history.

    The fact that you then uninstalled it wouldn't be written to that log.

    That is correct. Install history is simply an ongoing log of successful & failed KB updates. Installed updates is the true picture of your status. DooGie is right. Just confirming.

    I have never tried it. I just let windows do what it does. Plus I believe after the next build upgrade the excess junk should be cleaned up.
    Safer would be trying to clean the data store and WinSxS folders by opening an admin command prompt and giving the following:

    fsutil resource setautoreset true c:\&fsutil usn deletejournal /d /n c:&Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup&&sfc /scannow&Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth&sfc /scannow&Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase&pause

    or just download, open properties and unblock in the General tab(bottom right) and run this as admin(same as above): ClassicMaint.bat

    I might try that, some day.

    Just wonder if it is necessary at all.

    Thanks for that; otherwise, there's also Brink's tutorial to reset Windows Update's history.

    Thanks throker, I tried to find it, and couldn't at first(used wrong search parameters(words)). After reading your post I found it quickly: Windows Update - Reset in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

    Rats! I can't rep you here, but, I'll get it somewhere else:)

    Any updates on kb3136562? I haven't seen anything new since last week. I have not installed it on my production PC yet but I put it on my test PC last week and I have not seen any issues. Startup and shutdown do seem to be much faster, though...

    "Patch Tuesday" is only a day away, see what happens then.

    I'm also waiting for it to appear on Windows Update.

    I installed the update from the MS catalogue, and my PC has never worked better ! Virtually no hiccups except for a few times when IE 11 stop responding.
    So I am very curious to understand why it was released and then withdrawn. The rumour goes that what we will get now is an update that will take us all to version 10586.105 instead. Thus it is unlikely that we will ever see KB 3136562 on the auto update.
