Windows. Some kind of explanation from MS is needed. I don't mind waiting for Windows update but need to know that they are actually going to deliver it. By not installing this as the standalone are we preventing further deliveries of build updates via Windows update. These are questions they should answer.
Yes they should I agree with you there.
But have installed it on all my systems and daughters systems.
Which overall is 26 systems not one mess up and all updates went in as they should
One thing we have noticed the system starts up and shuts down quicker.
Also the web pages load faster at least on all systems we installed it on

As I just read in another forum, it seems that if a user installs such an update manually, it will be listed as shown above; if the installation happens on the "normal" way through WU, it will be listed as "cumulative".

Which overall is 26 systems not one mess up and all updates went in as they should.
Lets hope they don't find any problems and withdraw this patch before even releasing it through Windows update or you'll have a lot of restoring to do...

That is because WU only downloads and installs the objects required for your system whereas downloading the offline installer downloads and installs everything since November.
If you have previous updates installed, only the new fixes that are contained in this package will be downloaded and installed to your computer.

Well, it both helps and hurts. Helps because it shoots down the language pack theory; hurts because it means something is wonky with that PC (my production machine, as fate would have it). Good thing I'm getting ready to build another desktop, eh? Thanks for checking -- and reporting back.

Nah, it will just download more than required and replace everything - even objects that are identical. The old versions will be stuck in C:\Windows\WinSxS\Temp\PendingDeletes and removed automatically. Normally a reboot will do it, sometimes you need other tricks.
I do think it is questionable benefit to install something that hasn't been generally released through Windows update, with no indication of what it does. I certainly will wait but do appreciate others testing it out. I like testing insider builds but insider cumulative updates? No thanks.
