Hi. New member here. Ran into this bug myself this week. Very annoying. Tried an alleged fix I found on the Firefox forums, but it didn't entirely work. Any word on if the bug fix will restore lost passwords or if the ones that are gone are gone for good? Thanks.

I honestly don't know why I didn't wait on updating. I've been screwed by bugs like this before. I know the update fixed some critical issues, but honestly, I don't think those things really would have affected me had I waited, say, a week or so before updating so that bugs like this one could be discovered and fixed.

How long as Edge been out compared to all other browsers,
Edge is just a baby at moment but at least it will get there in time and hopefully catch and overtake the rest
MS couldn't do IE right and we're supposed to think Edge is going to be any different?

Unless you have a backup of logins.json to put back into the Appdata/Roaming/Firefox directory you have lost your passwords. Fortunately for me I had a backup of my Windows C: drive which I made with Macrium Reflect.

Hello jinxmchue Welcome to the Ten Forums!

When going to switch versions of one browser I tend to wait here still not even having seen the 44 just updated to the 43 as far as the 64bit flavor of FF! Found the new shortcut for that ealier generally waiting a few releases. As for lost passwords I run into that when going to switch browsers or choosing simply not have a password for particular sites not saved or the sites themselves will not allow for it!

Online credit sources for example not only require you enter the password fresh each time but some over security question will be asked for authentication purposes. A mere inconvenience to keep you better off in the long run!

From reading the Bugzilla messages on this bug, they have indicated the bug is resolved and the Firefox 44 update should be coming out shortly.

Nothing new there! The latest Insider build also has a bug of it's own they say will be corrected for the next. It's still all software and when you are in a rush to go 42 right into 43 into 44 all within a very short period of time "Bugs R Us"!

The Firefox developers asked me to test the 44.0.1 release candidate and I am happy to say it appears they have resolved the password bug.

That's good to hear but comes as not any big surprise since Mozilla tends to work bugs out a bit faster! I've been running the 44 without running into any of this for a few weeks however on two machines.

Given how notoriously easy it is to backup Firefox--the profile folder more than anything else, this is something that should be done before any update. (True for any application actually.) Personally, I think the onus here is on Norton. Fx43 is hardly an "old" release when updating to Fx44. It's actually what normally happens to most software--updating from the previous release to the current release (though there's seldom any need to hurry the task). So, backup your profiles before updating.

Well I can tell you now I'm about ready to dump FF 44 entirely and go back to the initial 42 release if not dump FF entirely! As of late as soon as you open a second windows to quote an article or open up a page with an embedded video either all FF windows freeze up solid or when going to get back to where you were after recovering from a total freeze 20 identical windows are seen popping up while simply trying to get to your home page! That is the description of what was just seen again before arriving here!

Earlier FF was acting up with the prompting for Adobe Flash Player which was taken care of promptly. But the update from the 44.0.0 to 44.0.2 fix is far from that it seems! Mozilla pooched this latest release royally it would seem!
