Wynona, make it a habit to create a restore point before installing anything you are not sure about. That is the simplest trick you can do to fix the problem you had with MB... a 5 minute system restore.
Shoulda done that, Robot. And now I'm hearing that the cumulative update for the RTM of Windows 10 is creating all kinds of havoc. Not sure a restore point would work for that?

A backup HDD/SSD image would be even better.
On my W7 install, Macrium images at ~3 GB to ~4 GB per minute.

For W10, since I'm using a VM, I just copy it to my backup drive before upgrades.

Just rolled back from 14251 to 11102 it was not playing nice here Chrome wouldn't show even after a re install and it would only boot into 14251 and not activated 10586 on the other NTFS partition on this HDD and it was much slower *here all in all and hanging frequently .

11102 and Chrome etc. are all working normally and well now .

We'll see what the next test build brings . I've been an insider for just about a year to the day .

As they say S* happens hopefully everyone else is having better luck with 11102

FWIW in the past year this is my first roll back other than a clean re install of 10029 way back when .

I used the Windows Insider app feedback and summarized my difficulties for the smiley people in Redmond :)

Brought a black screen with cursor.
Able to boot to safe mode with network.
    Can't access system restore.

Experiencing 2 problems on this build:
    1. IE favorites files in folders are missing.
    2. Windows Media Player does not works with downloaded .flv files with major codecs.
    Reported to MS.

No Wynona, I would still prefer image backups to fix update/upgrade mess. Use only restore point/system restore when installing programs.

If you don't have any compelling reasons for WMP VLC and KODI ( XMB ) are probably better alternatives and for music. & VLC plays anything throw at it unless it's from another planet or a BD or some weird 4K !

The embedded Windows 10 Groove Music run time tile app beats WMC and you can import, music library's ,files and tracks in there then select playback from album ,artist, song ,genre etc ,.

Groove Music has the usual meta data and cover art web scrapers if you haven't tagged them already and VLC is the S* for video and Kodi is decent and they are free :)

    Yeah, thought so.

Computer would not shut down without installing the cumulative update. My desktop survived it, so I'm OK for now. We'll see what happens in the morning with Lappy.

Have a look in C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther\setuperr.log or if that doesn't help C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther\setupact.log

They will tell you why the upgrade failed. Usually.

You can upload the error log here if you want but don't upload activity log without checking for any personal details first as it will contain your name, email address, IP address etc.
The attached .ZIP file contains the 2 logs you referenced.
    any help would be appreciated.
I have thus far made 4 attempts to install this latest build, with no success beyond the drivers stage.
