Faster insider builds gets the test OS out to the field/real life quicker with quicker feedback and quicker development. It simply is not for mainline use where something could cause irretrievable damage.

Right although I use the Insider test builds for the daily driver here on this dual boot configuration with a win 7 x64 > 10586 upgrade on the same NTFS hdd I save anything important to 10586 ,or Google Drive and or external media and my media files ,saved work back ups and DOC back ups are on other hdd's altogether .

I wouldn't count only on these test builds you never know and some of the older ones were not so reliable and you never knew if search or a lot of other things were going to work or still if an update will break something.

11099rs1 seems to be working fine here so far even the file copy/transfer progress window is fixed now :)

11099 rs1 seems to be faster now than the last build even on task bar search and Chrome browsing maybe something was broken or corrupted in my last build or the code is optimized better in this new build it's definitely faster here :)

Hopefully this build fixes the audio issue on my tablet. I'm not hopeful, though, since the issue was introduced in the November update and was still present in 11082.

Edit: Well, I found a fix for the audio issues by installing an old driver meant for Lenovo tablets. I'm on 11099 on both my PC and tablet with no major issues so far.

Sure would like to receive. I seem to be on the end of receiving any new build. In earlier days (a year ago) I was on the beginning of the new builds.

I was really annoyed when I couldn't see progress when copying something from/to USB! Now the question is, how do I opt out of fast ring after this update and well, abandon insider program entirely on this work PC? I had to stay in to get the latest version because I didn't feel like reverting to latest stable build. :/

Well, I switched to slow as I don't like the new way of releasing builds faster and possible with more bugs. Why did they think this is a good idea? I think it's really bad for those who really test the builds by using them as their main OS.
That's exactly why there's a fast ring and a slow ring. The slow ring's safer for those who want to play safe.

The fast ring's more challenging for those of us who enjoy bug hunting and like to live on the edge. We find bugs that the developers may have missed; somebody's gotta do it, so why not us gluttons for punishment?

Well said, Tomcat! Although I do tend to have some programs installed so I can "pretend" I'm using it on a day-to-day basis. How else we gonna test it? Of course, all my data files are on external drives so I can get to 'em when I need to.

BTW, I cooked dinner and watched TV with hubby for awhile. I have about an hour before bedtime and 11099 is downloading as I type.

Win 11099 downloaded and installed in less than 30 minutes. Thank you MS for bringing back the Copy Progress Bar.
