Are Registry Cleaners Still Needed on Windows 10?

Cleaning registry itself will not make any difference, but defragmenting it afterwards might. It all comes down to a personal preference, experiences. I like a tidy desk/Windows, some people do not mind a messy one. It is unfortunate, there are bad/fake ones, which cause a bad reputation, but so do fake AVs, like WinAntivirus.

No, defragging does even less since W7 and maybe even Vista, registry is not being read from the beginning every time an entry is used any more. OS knows instantly where a pertaining part is and jumps right to it. Might have been somewhat useful in XP and earlier but than it was much smaller anyway.

But not that great either. when I uninstall a program, I always have to go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE
to nuke the software's "key folder", or what ever it's called, if I want to reinstall it to fix something, otherwise the reinstall will have the same settings, and or failures, as before.

WNF state registrations cause boot and logon delays. Problem fixed in Windows 10 RTM. Fix was backported to 8.1 / WS12R2 by KB 3063843

This problem existed in 8.1/10, it was fixed, but there will be always reg problems, as long as registry exists.

Not to mention Windows 10 was unable to update, because of registry entry. MS fix was to clean registry.

Once upon a time, registry was supposed to be phased out but.....

I wish, but it is unlikely, that MS will redo the whole thing, like ever.

Only "defense" is to use portable programs.
