    Hi,

I'd rather make sure something does not break than having to clean up the mess when it does.

    Cheers,

Probably not because they don't use them.

I have seen a lot of evidence, but I do not make notes, because I do not care, whenever people believe it or not, I do not make a religion out of it. Reg cleaning is great in a problem prevention, driver or software related, like once a person could not install a software, which was caused by an obsolete entry, completely unrelated to that new software or it caused a driver crashing/BSOD. Sometimes people have strange problems and I know, that a simple reg cleaning could solve it (it takes a few seconds), but I do not recommend it, because I know, that it is not appreciated here, so I recommend a repair upgrade instead. I do a deep reg cleaning regularly and I do not even make backups anymore, because over the years, I have not had a single problem due to it, I consider a maintenance essential a to have a smooth running PC.

Same here, topics like this are like: What is better coke or pepsi?! Everyone has their own preference.

It means they guess it would cause harm.

If I recall correctly, I have never had to use those backups.

Depends how one looks at it, could be that they are sure or have experienced it with other's computers. Remember that Schrödinger's cat ?
