Jimbo45, Are you running windows 10 in a virtual machine with the Virtual Machine itself being installed on Linux?
    Running VMWARE workstation 10.0.4 / vmplayer V6 on LINUX CENTOS 7 HOST with W10 as a VM (W10 build 9879 - Enterprise x-64).
    My setup is similar:
    • Linux Mint 17.1 MATE (64 bit) Host OS
    • VMware Player 6 (it might have been updated to v7 by now)
    • W10 TP VM

VMware workstation 11.0 has problems with W10 at times -- the taskbar disappears and you can't launch anything unless you exit FULL SCREEN. Connecting USB devices also fails at times -- VM says connected but you can't access them -- so I'm staying on the 10.0.4 VMWARE release (or vmplayer 6) -- works perfectly.
I have VMware Workstation 7 installed in W7.
It can't run the W8 series, W10TP or recent versions of Linux distros (e.g. LM16).
    Hi there

VMPLAYER (Free) rel 6 will run W10 quite nicely -- ensure you have the kernel headers for your distro installed (correct one's for the actual running kernel -- sudo uname -r to see the running actual kernel).

Issues with W10 on vmplayer rel 7 or workstation 11. Some people report HOST hangs !!! and USB doesn't mount devices correctly. Ensure though for compatibility set USB to 2.0 if using vmplayer rel 6 unless your HOST supports native USB 3.

I also posted a fix for Unity mode with W10 on Linux hosts in the VMware section but I think Unity isn't available in vmplayer.

    Cheers

I bought two copies of Windows 8 Pro for $40 each, wish I had bought more. W10 for that initial price would be great.

That's the price I got Windows 8 for too. It was offered right after the release. I bought 2 copies and ended up giving the 2nd one to my son. I'll look for that special pricing when it comes available.

As far as getting a "free" copy....not me, I'm not that lucky.

You have to remember in here we are techies who want windows 10 so either for the technology or to be able to help new clients when they go to stores to purchase it. People who are running windows 7 still, like myself ( and i have 4 pcs running 8.1) are not going to jump into 10 unless they have no choice, those on 8.1 are also not going to jump, they are still trying to get used to 8.1. I think it is too early to put out another OS. Wait a yr. let ppl digest 8.1 before jumping into 10

8.1 has already been out for over a year (August 27th, 2013), and 10 won't be released until the end of this year. So that will be 2 years. > 3 Years since Windows 8 was released. How long are they supposed to get used to it?

I am afraid that some people will never get used to it. They will just hang on 7 or XP.

Most likely. I don't think they're gonna hand out free OS's, (if it be so), to users running unregistered versions.
