I did notice that it no longer informs you of the ability to roll back to the previous O.S. !! have they removed the option ?

that's just what i did...
i have one computer with windows 10 on it
this one...

and another with windows 7 pro...
no internet... updates off... sp1 only...
i'll keep it as long as i can...

if i need to get on the internet i use this one...

Support for old IE version is coming to an end


Microsoft will pull the plug on old Internet Explorer versions in January, but with millions of users who are yet to update their browsers, the company is preparing for a more aggressive campaign that would make everyone aware of the approaching milestone.

Starting January 12, the date when support for older Internet Explorer versions is coming to an end, Microsoft will begin nagging users to update their browsers on Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.

An advisory published this week (first spotted by @rodtrent) and called “The new ‘End of Life’ upgrade notification for Internet Explorer” reveals that Microsoft will ship a cumulative security update on January 12 for the aforementioned two OS versions, in both 32- and 64-bit versions, in order to remind users to install the latest version of the company’s browser.

How to disable the notification feature
To disable the notification feature in Internet Explorer, follow these steps.

Important Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back up the registry for restoration in case problems occur.

For x86-based systems
1.Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then click OK.
2.Locate the following registry subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_DISABLE_IE11_UPGRADE_TAB_LAUNCH

3.Right-click FeatureControl, point to New, and then click DWORD (32-bit) Value.
4.Enter iexplore.exe, and then press Enter to name the new value.
5.Double-click iexplore.exe.
6.In the Edit DWORD Value dialog box, enter 1 in the Value data field, and then select OK.
7.Exit Registry Editor, and then restart the browser to enable the new key.
NoteIf the value of the iexplore.exe registry entry is 0, or if the registry entry doesn't exist, the notification feature is enabled by default.

I do not have Windows10 yet and I am not sure whether I need it. Is there a list of functions that Windows10 provides over Windows7. Maybe there is some gold to be found.

Hi WHS, been a while. . .why not try it out in a VM to see if it is something you may or may not want to use. Been using it now since the Insider Program Started back in 2013, and like others I have not found all the problems (some minor) they have. Just loaded it up in boot camp on my new iMac 27" 5 K, and am very pleased. . .Good luck with whatever direction you take. . .:)
