I've never encountered issues regarding updates even though I have my personal and work machines set to auto update. All my machines updated fine last Tuesday when there were lots of stories of others having problems.
SourceThe last several months have seen a disturbing string of problems in updates released for Microsoft products. Last week we saw three. It's time to worry about what's behind it all. This isn't the first time I've brought this up. In Summer of last year Microsoft had buggy Patch Tuesday updates three months in a row. There had been others that year, some of which crippled systems. The following list includes problems observed in just the last six months:

So many changes on an ever expanding OS, over so many platforms, on so many different devices from so many different manufacturers..., it's almost expected
Unfortunately, like so many others, I can not claim to not have encountered problems with WUs. I have been "bitten" by the latest round and was only able to work around it by reinstalling from two-week old backup. This failing updates week after week is getting very frustrating.
