If only Linux had decent hardware support I would switch at once. I'm so tired of installing "updates" on my system that change who knows what. Unfortunately if you're into multimedia (gaming, listening to music and watching movies) Linux is a no-go too because of it's lack of hardware support. E. g. my sound card works under Linux but working under Linux means sound comes out of the speakers. Of course there is absolutely no support for all the additional features my sound card offers. My Haupauge video capture card does not work at all under Linux, the SATA ports of my mainboard that are controlled by a Marvell chip do not work... That's why I'm stuck with the MS "we have done something to your computer but we wont tell you what" updates
Updated with no problems. Looked around didn't see anything so I assume it fixed a few issues.
Software is a problem too, no OS comes close to shear amount of SW, that may be even bigger plus for Windows. I use several Linux distros just because I can't use same SW on only one of them.
Another thing is that windows are more predictable than Linux. Even with all those changes there are no great surprises.
Linux is stable and getting more user friendly every year. But if you are used to Windows and have years of Windows software programs, switching over is a challenge, and odds are you'll end up going back to Windows. I put Linux Ubuntu which is one of the most user friendly distros on an old PC and it worked good, but there was a lot of setup work and you have to have good tech knowledge and understanding how Linux works.
If you want to try it run it on an older desktop to see how you like it. For beginners Ubuntu and Mint are very good.
Linux is great for servers. I run my business servers with CentOS Linux which is a low-cost clone of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. CentOS is extremely reliable. You virtually never even have to do a reboot, it just runs and runs smoothly.
At least now we know what the update was for,
A few tweaks are always good
Wonder what patch Tuesday will bring cant wait to find out
I thought this was a Windows sight. . .Hmmmmmmmm!. . .I guess I was wrong it appears to be an advertisement sight for Linux. . . so just to let you folks know there is another OS out there called Mac OS X it really is better than Linux. . .
Why are you pushing Linux on a windows 10 forum.
Do you think everyone is going to switch to it my friend had it we soon got rid of it.
We are here to help members who are having trouble with windows 10.
Not some system that you cant do nothing with
If we wanted to talk about Linux we would join their forum
People come here and talk about Windows 8 and 7 too. Are you going to tell them were to go too? I didn't see anybody pushing Linux, it was casually mentioned, what's the big deal? Looks like some here have a hate on for Linux? I guess I better go delete my Raspberry Pi thread huh?
