Mozilla and Yahoo are looking at most users which have no idea you can change search engines in a browser.
They use what ever is there and think no more of it.

I know a couple in my neighbourhood who follow that rule. They use the web mail that comes with their ISP, and rarely change default things.

Yahoo pretty much sucks so that's a bad deal,
In any case I suppose it's an easy thing to change :/

Good thing I downloaded Firefox yesterday and have the settings so it will alert me to updates and not update search engines

Don't mean to contaminate this thread, but, on another note:

Is this YouTube 'AutoPlay Next' feature exclusive to Firefox stable? I would assume it works in Chrome.
Doesn't work in 'Nightly' or 'Palemoon' though.

Firefox/Mozilla needs the funds to keep development up and where the get it at this point is irrelevant to me. They can team up with Yahoo and that's fine just as long as I can have an option to chose the search engine I want to use then I'm all for it.

My earlier comment was more tong in cheek than anything else. I couldn't highlight it in purple to indicate sarcasm.

I try to remember not to get all worked up about things I have no control over.

Who Mozilla hooks up with is be on my control. At least they are not hooking up with Ask.com

I like Firefox and I use Google.

The Yahoo integration isn't all that bad. You have the option to show or hide the toolbar, or disable them, or remove them altogether.
However, networking seems to go through the roof, it's not performance optimized by any means; very slow!
Yahoo has about 50 'about:config' entries you may want to check on.
You can still manage search engines as before. If you have a standard FirefoxSetup.exe I would hold on to it for the time being.
Other than that it's pretty normal, but I'm not finished with it yet. Going to dig deeper, I will post my findings.
