I had to do an in-place upgrade (via USB) to get sfc /scannow to comeback clean, otherwise I'm good to go (knock on wood!).

Running 10 Pro and clean installing 10586 and I always get Home not Pro.

    Later on that night...

Okay, figured it out. If you have an OEM box with the Win8 keys embedded in the uefi/bios then a fresh/clean install will give you the Home or Pro version of the fall update depending what your win8 keys are. If you made your own box or have an older 7 oem box then you get the option to choose which O/S to install.

Solution for now is to insert an ei.cfg file into the sources folder to bring up the Home or Pro menu.

Thanks, my LAPTOP does not have DVD burner but I have an external DVD that I can plug on USB port. Can I use it for installation with iso file ? MCT proposes also USB option. What do you recommend? iso/DVD or USB?
To this release go on as an upgrade not a clean install simply right click on the "Windows.iso" download if not named to something Windows 10 Home or Pro.iso and see the disk image mounted on a virtual drive to see the upgrade begin. I did that with the 10565 when one blog had a direct download link while it was also in the updates having the VM Get Insider builds option set to go there. I was also able to transfer the download to one of the physical storage drives for setting up the VM once again following the need to restore a system image showing that will work.

The smart move if having a spare drive to store things on is to keep the Media Creation tool in both 32bit and 64bit flavors onhand. The download here only took about 5 minutes for this one! I ran the tool a second time to grab the 64bit Home as well to be able to replace the 10240 downloads one at a time before redoing the 4 in 1 which wil be gravy train simply unpacking each iso in the 64bit folder!

I just answered that on the other thread naming off the five choices for Home and Pro, Home N and Pro N, and the 32bit Single Language edition which excludes the Enterprise edition as well as the Education edition. The MC tool if for upgrading the home pc and small office, home office type systems not for schools or corporations where MS has other offers.

Mine installs then rolls back to build 10240 telling me it couldn't install the upgrade.
It seems to have disappeared from the update panel, maybe they have pulled it ?

I don't have a SSD Card I think there are more problems than listed above.

I'm the same as you, mine reboots after installation and then the message centre gives me the message
    "we have trouble completing installation"

Have any extra storage drives? That will put a monkey wrench into the works! Even with the upgrade type install extra Non OS drives will see boot files and the temp install folders placed there by the 10 installer while this wasn't the case with previous versions. The 10 installer simply gets "confused" which is one red herring found with 10.

It will gum up the works on the spot! I couldn't even guess why I was running into so many stalls, a few blues screens, and a few returns right back to the desktop. When previously reinstalling 7 clean with the pair of Sata 3 drives in previously now replaced by a pair of larger Enterprise grade heavy duty 2tb Sata II note drives I would simply unplug one OS drive to see another OS like Linux Mint go on the second or the 8 Customer Preview back in 2012 or fresh 7 install with the second OS drive unplugged still seeing the two storage drives left plugged in. The 7 installer only saw the S II not S 3 drives being the key factor for the older version. 10 however with the updated type of installer looks at every drive and finding the boot files on one drive and the temp folders on another was a good indicator on what actually happened!

If you want to see the latest go on the alternative is not by updates and if you have any storage drive plugged in? The best move when possible and hardly nothing on would be to simply nuke one by installing the newer to see it replaced. Yet the upgrade of 10 over 10 generally should go better then any upgrade over a previous version.

The physical upgrade takes an hour or longer so you can take the dog out for a walk if you have one?! I would even unplug any flash drive or other usb drive or device if not able to turn off like a switch on an external enclosure for anything besides the av program that could interfere. And the av program could be another factor while the one here never stops! That only needed the newer version for 10 and not lost like other programs during the 10 over 10 upgrades.
