I used Acronis True Image from Western Digital to clone drive as they recommended. It all went well there Copied all from old drive that had Windows 10 on it before i sent it back was a rma & upgrade from them. Old Hard drive made to much noise but no bad sectors on it so copy was fine. All i noticed then I lost my restore points but WD told me cause I am using larger drive. But this secure boot maybe the answer if I can disable it.
Didn't know WD used Acronis True Image it should be cool ! too bad they don't have WD Lifeguard any more that was a real good free hdd diag and format utility I still have it ,it works on any metal HDD whereas Sea Tool's is only for Seagate hdd's .

UFEI secure boot may be the whole problem (my guess) you can disable it and turn it back on later all you have to do is load the BIOS screen and turn it [ off ] there might be instructions beyond the link above at your PC or MB vendor

Ok Here is some pictures I not see a UEFI in the troubleshooting & no legacy in the bios. This is so strange. I tried go back to previous build but just rebooted & nothing.

DrSysop, your processor, the AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ is the problem. It is one of the CPUs that cannot run Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 64-bit operating systems due to an instruction not present in the processor instruction set, CMPXCHG16b.
    See this thread:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...5-dff1d3847aac

If you download this from the Microsoft sysinternals site, https://live.sysinternals.com/Coreinfo.exe you will be able to check.

However, all is not lost. If you install Windows 10 x86 you will have no problems - except you will be limited to about 3.4 GB of usable memory - which runs most applications without any problem.

EDIT: there are ways to confound the processor check during install, but it is a problem that will recur as time goes by.

You should be able to find WD Lifeguard here, http://support.wdc.com/downloads.aspx?DL Select WD Black and submit

I am using the Windows Defender & yes i turn it off. Yes I upgraded from Windows 7 Ultimate in August & that went ok.
As far as partitions there is 2 one says System Reserved 100mb created by Windows 7 DVD & other unnamed 456mb created by Windows 10. Here is a pic from computer management on the drive
First point is the OP is running Windows 10 x64 10240 that was upgraded from W7 and installed in MBR mode not UFEI mode so no secure boot involved. His failure is trying to upgrade to 10586.
Also if his AMD processer is not compatible in x64 mode how is he running W10 x64 now?

I have a desktop that was upgraded from W8.1 to W10 when RTM was released and it also fails to upgrade with this new version.
I will be doing a clean install this week.

Yes i am running in 64 bit mode now. 8GB ram no issues even when i upgraded from windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. Only thing when i upgraded before I did was changed the video card. I used MCT & downloaded it & also made a DVD both ways it failed even on my Dell & HP machine.

That's a legacy MBR BIOS no UFEI like phoneman says ........ I forgot you upgraded from Windows 7 which implies a legacy BIOS : facepalm :

Sounds like some of the others here are onto something so I will just get some popcorn or smoke a blunt and relax !

    @DrSysop

I think this is what Fafhrd was referring to. If you ran 10240 X64 then you do meet requirements, but something may have got switch off in your BIOS? There's a Coreinfo command-line utility on this TechNet page to check. PAE/NX/SSE2 Support Requirement Guide for Windows 8

Here's more info just for grins: What are PAE, NX, and SSE2? - Windows Help

I still think it's a driver and/or an update which a Bing search on your Page Fault warning says it is with a lot of reference. You may want to install without "Check for updates" option. Do that after install to see. Don't know what to tell you if it be a driver.

i think there was no way to stop check for updates or see a option when u install. I try to disconnect from the net while I install so nothing to check
