mine went in just fine after I rammed a restart, manually mind, down its throat. seems it kept borking on the scheduled restart for whatever reason...

That's my point, just didn't explain it very well. I did a clean install to a totally blank drive. I'm not surprised that option is missing for me. I'm surprised that its there for him and its showing 21 GB? That's what I meant about somethings not right, somethings not right on his system, not mine. That's why I asked how the clean install was done. Could have definitely worded my post better.

dual boot W10 10586th2/14291 rs1 Win. Insider since Jan. 2015

7 x64 licence upgraded the i7 workstation configuration to 10586.3 th2 here yesterday with a clean install upgrade now download via the MCT . It went smooth download took maybe 40 min. for maybe 3.6 GB . No issues with the production software ,editors VST plugins and outboard HDWE getting re authorized and up and running . Windows 10 brought a nice ~8-15 ms latency improvement on the production side that's HUGE in this work and usually takes $$$$ in HDWE upgrades to get half of that.

DX 12 came witth Win 10 and brought some better frame rates and play action action for the 1080p ultra dGPU gaming . SWBF went live last night & the graphics @1080p ultra on a decent PC/CPU/dGPU could bring tears to a PS4/X Box One console slave ☻☻ nVidia came out with an updated dGPU driver with a SWBF patch in it at about the same time the game went live it pays well .

The fellow that advised some of us of that latency improvement on Gearslutz a while back I mentioned above allegedly wrote some of the code for the Windows 10 Audio stack . OTOH We are using ASIO drivers and external audio Interfaces and DSP's in there although something worked well probably above my level of understanding or outside of the Windows audio stack altogether .

I waited until I had some experience with the fall update on the other PC's here and particularly to abuse it in this one.

You can load 100 VST's plug ins up (not quickly on a metal hdd though ) but once you load them it doesn't sweat it .

The compatibility of all this was a concern but on *that configuration* it all worked out and Windows 10 brought it to da house performance wise very well in there !

If any significant "bogeys" come up I will post them here .

FWIW we won't be using many of the UI apps ,live tiles ,Edge ,IE 11 or Cortana beyond the start menu & application drop down menu, & settings app and and task bar search & the action center on that configuration.

I set up everything accordingly with Chrome as the default browser and Windows Defender and Mbam and Mbam real time protection and a slim start up configuration .

There are 4 Windows 10 PC here altogether so plenty of W 10 opportunities .

I'm usually on the 10586.3 dual boot daily driver here and only play games or listen to music on the workstation .

I don't do the daily grind studio a
nd production work but only fixing and configuration and play and a little & track and meta data editing now and then sometimes on this PC or the WS .

I'm a mostly a retired irritant and principal investor for the family business
    from another career altogether.

Ofc. YMMV so I'm not going to preach conversion to W10 we all know by now it can go either way and sometimes way south on any given configuration ,application ,use or workload ☻
    Stay tuned ☻☻

Sent from Windows 10 Insider 10586.3 on this W10/W10 dual boot box.

    Strange behaviour of Build 10586.3

I've switched off my wife's PC and managed to set up the homegroup folder on mine. In networks however two folders in my onedrive folder showup. They are labelled Important 1 and Important 2. They contain music and documents. It seems Build 10586.3 trawls the hard drives and adds folders containing documents , pictures etc. to the network.

After upgrading to TH2 version 1511 build 10586 i don't see Windows Defender definition updates listed in Windows Update History.
This is for a RTM W7 Upgrade license (not as an Insider).
Are others here still seeing WD definition updates listed in Update History, and this is an issue with my upgrade ?

I've been waiting for this update before updating my PCs from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 I thought I'd start with my Dell Inspiron laptop being only a year old and not having many applications installed. I'm extremely disappointed the installation will not proceed beyond the point where the PC wants to restart and the installation program exits to a very uninformative window "Something has gone wrong".

I've posted more details of my saga and the error file at https://www.tenforums.com/installatio...at-next-2.html

I hope someone form Microsoft reading this thread can offer some useful advice. I've updated my OS dozens of times and never had a problem until now.

I saw where someone said they forced a restart and things progress satisfactorily from there.
