I got it last night on both my laptop and desktop. It took over 2 hours to download and install, but seems to be working well. I did notice a big loss of hard drive space and found that it places a 20 GB "windows old" file just like the upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 did. I'll either let it "go away" or deliberately delete it in a month or so.
Use this way to get rid of it :)
Disk cleanup in windows itself.
C: disk properties > Disk cleanup > Clean system files. There you have Previous installation etc.

I did this today & cleaned everything but this -
Somehow 21.3 Gb seems too large. After having issues upgrading from Win 7 to Win 10, I did a clean install of Windows 10. So 21.3 Gb for Previous Windows installations just doesn't seem right & makes me a little nervous to delete. My C: is a 118 Gb SSD which the used space is currently at 71.4 Gb.
Am I wrong?

If everything is going well, and you making disk images, and you just don't see any circumstance that would have you revert, just heave that windows.old folder. 21GB is too much overhead on a small SSD and increases backup times and file sizes.

Yes small C: but 5.5 Tb on 3 other drives total. I forgot about the windows.old folder. No problem getting rid of that!

That number isn't necessarily accurate. For me it claimed previous installations was 17.8GB and considering my SSD is only 22GB that is impossible. Anyway I cleaned it (it deleted my Windows.old folder) and I now have 11GB used.

Somethings not right? I did a clean install on this PC and "Previous Windows Installations" isn't even in the list for me? And yes I clicked "clean up system files". How did you do said clean install?

"Previous Windows Installations" will only be there if you had done an update x > y. Clean has no previous anything. As for the "large" size. it may be reporting an un-compressed size. Previous may be compressed during update.

"Previous Windows Installations" will also be there if the user did a clean install by pointing the Windows setup to a partition that has a previous OS on it without reformatting that partition first. It won't upgrade that existing OS, but it will save it in windows.old.

That sounds like it's a Brand name computer with complete OS plus programs that come with it in the recovery partition.
If I cloned the drive to a new SSD, is that recovery partition still going to work on the new SSD?
