I used the media tool and just let it upgrade. It took awhile but as far as I can see everything seems to be running fine. I upgraded a laptop at the same time and it's running fine as well.

Didn't want to wait for the upgrade. Already had Windows 10 Pro x64 10240. Downloaded the ISO for Windows 10 x64 1511 - 10586.3 and burned a DVD. Ran Setup.exe from the DVD (didn't boot from it) to trigger the upgrade, kept apps and personal files. Upgrade took about 30 minutes with several reboots. Seems to be to be working great.

Hard disk is 3TB partitioned UEFI/GPT, 2TB for Windows 10 and 1TB for Linux. Running dual boot with Linux Mint before upgrade. Everything with dual boot working great after upgrade.

Did you read the original post? That should explain what's going on.

Are you running Windows 10 Build 10240 RTM? However, if you're running Build 10586, you will get updates that will take you to 10586.3, which is what 10240 RTM will be upgraded to also.

It looks like the updates/upgrades are being staggered.

The update isn't showing up for me yet... and I'm trying to avoid the MCT... I don't want to accidentally somehow screw something up. xD
Me too, am so hesitant. Don't want to miss up so much work on the machine. MS is ill prepared for this. All their $$$$$$ and they seemingly cannot cope with the bandwidth/server demand

    Long story short.................
Many of us have had the same problem you are having..................... no new Threshold 2 10586 from Windows Update.
Advice is to install using the ISO.
I used this new media Creation Tool to download the iso file.
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/softw...load/windows10

After the iso is downloaded, right click at it > click Mount > click Setup.exe.
I did that and installation went smoothly.
    Activation is automatic.

I think you get the update faster if you have the PC set to download from PC's on the internet. My PC with that setting turned ON pulls in updates before my wife's PC, who has her "Updates from More Than One Place" turned off.

You can't screw it up if you simply don't insert the media before Windows is running. If you are at the desktop, insert the media.

You can use the media creation tool and get a copy of the ISO. I was able to get a copy in all of 10 minutes and then I performed a clean instillation
