First Major Update for Windows 10 Available
-
Upgraded Ok to Windows 10 Pro 1511/10586.3 using windows update.
Only one small problem to date. After the update and the first appearence of lock screen, the mouse was dead (Microsoft Intellimouse), cursor visible but no movement or click response.
Pressed escape key to get to the login screen and logged in.
After logging in there was no mouse cursor.
Rebooted using the keyboard and mouse is ok now.
Everthing seems ok initialy, but I'll investigate further.
I went the MCT route, USB thumb, and upgraded both my desktop and SP3 Lappy. No issues. You can also get the ISO thru MCT. When it asks for the DVD, just tell it to shutup and finish. It will be right in your download folder.
EDIT: I did this cause I got tired of waiting to be blessed by Redmond thru WU.

Hi guys. I've got the 1511/10586 upgrade offered through update now (UK, Bradford).
Wish me luck.
Hope it goes well for you like it did me on all my laptops and tablets
Just don't rush it

Your PC came with 8.1 Home and You got 10 Home...
That is how it works.. On a clean install it read the Embedded product key..
And it won't...
You need to re-install windows 7 pro - then upgrade to windows 10 pro on that PC..
Either via a separate partition or VHD.. Once the PC gets Digitial Entitlement for windows 10 Pro
Then you can update from 10 home to 10 Pro - using the generic Key
I'm wondering If you add a PID.txt file to the Windows 10 install media, with the Windows 7 Pro key in it, will it accept it and install Pro? If it would it would be easier than installing 7 and upgrading to 10.

Select 2 for a compressed ESD. which may give a smaller, faster ISO file - generally quicker since the compression/decompression happens at processor/memory level, whereas disk/dvd i/o operations are slower.
7-Zip is also in the compression business :) - and now can open and read install.esd files from Windows setup downloads since
7-Zip beta 15.09
15.11 beta is available today. I didn't see 15.09 so I downloaded 15.11. :) I have the non-beta version already.

The build just pushed out or the previous Insider build? Worked for me on the latter; for the former I had to add a newer decryption key.
On Insider Build 10586, not the upgrade 1511 to 10240 RTM.
So how would one add the newer decryption key?

As I read elsewhere previously, after the upgrade some defaults are altered. Irfanview still handles gifs by default as previously set, but pdf handled by Edge by default now, rather than my previously set
acrobat reader. Probably other changes too, so you may want to check your program defaults.

Yeppers, that's a foregone conclusion; Microsoft seems to want to change all our defaults to what they think is best for us!
Keep yer mits offen mah stuff, Microsoft!

You aughta see what they did with One Drive! They've added option for hot keys to send screenshots (Snippit) DIRECTLY to One Drive! N0-No-No!!! Screenshots are for documentation on forums, show examples, clarify, etc. They are NOT a Family Photo Album! They also snag the the hot-key settings at startup whether you decide to opt into it or not. I use Screenpresso, which also uses the same hot keys. But, because One Drive (being MS Priority #1), the keys are locked by the time Screespresso fires up and I get an error screen saying can't use hot keys, only option is to cancel Screenpresso hot key screen and do all via right-click taskbar icon. DUMB-DUMB-DUMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just slightly miffed, and a whole lot P'd off!!!
