I have upgraded my Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet to TH2 and now the connected standby battery drain is doubled again from already bad 0.5%/h to 1.1%/h!! And just wanted to turn it on and the screen stays black, it's not frozen though you can see the background light turns on slightly but the screen stays black. Thank you Microsoft.
Well when something isn't right something is wrong and that should have stopped you immediately from proceeding any further if you were only planning an upgrade install. You likely saw the US English version go on instead if you used the MC tool back on July 29th or early August. It's also easy to end up downloading the first "cestina" option since the text underneath is still English which happened the first time I went for the Home edition which when going to put that on a VM you couldn't even read it! oops! In the moment of "Anticipation" that would be easy to do!
That's precisely what I did on one of the VMs here for the 10565 build. When going to run it from the updates a blog page opened up with the download link I save to the VM and later copied over to host before finding the page again. I then downloaded direct to the second desktop to see a new VM. You simply right click on the "Windows.iso" unless remamed to see the image mounted which has been an option since 7 to mount iso images without any 3rd party app and then simply fire the setup.exe file!
Turn off fast startup:
Fast Startup - Turn On or Off in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums
I dont see why turning it off shoult help in this scenario? Also it was turned off of course already. Just wanted to turn it off by holding power for 5 seconds (hard power off), an Windows shows the "slide down to power off", great. But the login doesnt show just a black screen. Which doesnt work btw, screen stays lightly turned on but black.
Because fast startup does not actually place the computer in a full power off state. Fast startup places the computer in a deep sleep state. But it's up to you. If it were me, I would turn off fast startup and then shut down the computer using the usual way - click on the power icon on the start screen and selecting shut down.
I think you dont understand what I said in my first post or what connected standby is. Fast startup isnt used on a tablet and has nothing to do with connected standby.
o_0 And???? Please forget the word fast startup, thank you fast startup is basically hibernate for the kernel + small amount of ram for kernel modules, it has nothing to do with standby, the device is completly powered off. I am talking about tablets here which use connected standby aka instantgo how it was renamed a while ago... InstantGo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Most important feature of it is this: The hardware requirements extend to battery life, in that systems must not drain more than 5% of battery capacity while idle over a 16-hour period
Meaning a 0.3%/h drain which worked fine under Windows 8, switched to 0.5% on Windows 10, and now is again bugged of 1.1% in TH2. But my main problem here is login not showing/staying black.
